anyone here able to fix the threads for the flywheel nut on a crank?
in my other thread, i mention my shear key keeps shearing, and this seems to be the issue.
they are pretty much totally gone, it will need threaded to a diff. thread. then ill need a nut to fit it.
anyone here able to fix it, with the rod still on the crank? the crank is just rebuilt
cost isnt really an issue, as long as it will solve my problem of not being able to tighten the flywheel down tight enough.

Try to find someone that will let you borrow a tap and die set. Its really not that hard to do and itll save you some cash.

well, it turns out, i am going to re-rod my balanced crank that i have and put that in there and take the counter-balancer out.
but, it seems that i will need a need a new nut for my crank. its the same as a regular 84 R nut. anyone have one? our local hardware store went out of business :(

a 250 r crank cant be that hard to find.. I would find another one with good threds! and have that rebuilt..dont waste your time messing with the one you got..what happens when you get all that done and it still shears keys...I bet you would be pissed...

i have a crank that has been welded and lathed down, turning it into a round crank, and has been balanced. i will be putting the rod that is on my stripped crank onto the balanced crank.
the rod is brand new, only about 10 hours on it.
