I've been doing some looking, reading reviews, and asked about tires for my 86 R here on the board.
I have boiled my choices down to 18" Klaw MX's or 20" Klaw XC's. I am using a 9x9 rim.
One or 2 reviews had mentioned the 18's rolling the sidewalls. but I'm thinking that's because of the weight of the quads. I'd like them to slide predictably.
I'm also wondering how heavy the 20's are, being 6-ply.
I sure don't want lead weights on my R.
I don't know which one I want. :wondering If it helps, I do some trail riding on fairly moderate trails, and run on my buddy's backyard flat track, as well.
Can anyone give me a comparison of the 2 tires?

I have the 18'' klaw mxrs, they only measure 17'' though and are quite small. If theres any rocks or obstacles on the trail I would get the 20s. Ive hit lots of rocks and bashed my sprocket and disc on many from it being so low. They do slide decent though when they have enough pressure in them. They do hook up exceptionally though in dry/wet terrain. I never had a problem rolling tire off the bead and I only run 2 psi to compensate for the brutal ride of the flat profile design.

Thanks for that info. That's kinda coincidental. I looked on Kenda's site, and it says they measure 18.0".
I know I measured my 18" Fast Trekkers, and they are only 16" tall. I put screws in 'em......great ice tires now:naughty:
That all said....it's probably safe to assume that the 20" Klaws are closer to 19".
I'm mainly concerned about the weight of the Klaws in 20"s being 6-ply tires.
I also wonder how rough they're gonna be on trails being 6-ply.

if your going on trails, i would definately go with the 20's. I have 22" klaw xc's on my 400ex and I really like them. I haven't been able to notice much weight gain and they wear and slide great. had them on for over a year now
