well theres this 1980 cr80 forsale localy and it loks to be in excelent condition but in the ad he says, "It has a new crank, but on re-assembly the shift forks got put in wrong I think. It runs great, but when shifted into 4th gear it jumps in and out of that gear. It works in all the other gears, and also has a new piston and rings."
i dont know a damned thing about bikes so im just wondering how hard it would be to fix that. would i have to split the case or anything? the bikes only about 400 obo so im just wondering. thanks and all information is highly apreaciated.

The case has to be split to fix a shift fork. There are a few other things that could cause that problem. A worn shift drum or ratchet paws can cause the same thing. If the guy Is sure they put the fork In wrong, then I would find a newer 80 and not bother with that one.
