Compression problems???

Polaris 300 4x4 Was running then stopped. Now all it will do is backfire through the carb every once and a while. New plug. Gas ok. Could the timing have jumped? Or is it low compression? Acts weird. I am not giving up on it yet. Thanks for any input.

Is it a 2 or 4 stroke? A sheared key in the flywheel will cause backfiring.

It is a two stroke. A friend told me it probably is the reeds. How does that sound?

its rare that a 2 stroke wont run from bad reeds unless a pedal snapped off...
i woulod check the compression if you have a gauge
