My new '85 250r...

Hello-

I'm a long time fan of fast three-wheelers. I grew up riding my dad's (albeit slower) Big Reds and switched to four wheelers when trikes were outlawed, mostly used for agricultural purposes. Well, I can finally saw I own a "racer."

Take a look at the pics I took yesterday. Does anyone know what kind of silencer that is on there? I have a low hour stock silencer and pipe shipping my way and am wondering if I should replace that aftermarket one and go back to the original. Ideas? Comments on the R in general? Thanks. I'm glad to finally be a part of this board!

thanks i588. Seeing your 350 backs up my theory that my headlight may be from 350x. I've only seen the double headlight on 350x. It has definately grown on me and I like how it differentiates my 250R from others.

that silencer is a RICHTER PRIVATEER. i have one on my 85 atc250r it was there when i bought it in 1995. just won one on ebay for $9.99 for a 86atc250r i just won on ebay with no silencer at all.

leave the aftermarket pipe and silencer on it they run so much better with it then the stock heavy stuff. if you want to sell the aftermarket stuff i'll buy it:beer

A K&N. The guy installed a K&N and drilled several 1/2" holes in the top of the air box. I assume that's what people do when they install K&Ns on Rs???

Also, thanks for the advice on the silencer. It's staying, and I'll be selling the low hour OEM that that came with the OEM pipe I just bought.

they went out of business in the late 80's or real early 90's. my one you can still read the sticker

Was gonna say the same. I have that silencer on my 81R. Bought it off a member here and the sticker says the same.

take off the airbox lid, unless your planning on some mudd bogs, or its real dusty around there. helps slightly with low-end.
