I have a weird problem with my yamaha trimoto 125. When the trike is running and I put into gear it won't move. When i shut off the trike and put it into gear i can get it to grab and be able to pop the clutch. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it??? I also was wondering if the trimoto 125 and 175 had the same bottom ends. The only different thing I noticed was that the 175 had a 5bolt cylinder head and the trimoto 125 head only had 4 bolts. I have had this project on the back burner for quite a while now and i'm ready to find out what the problem is.

Give us some history on it. How was it running before? When did the problem start? It could be a clogged air filter, carb/jets, chain, tranny gears, clutch, etc.

I bought the thing as a parts trike a year ago put a cdi, wiring harness and coil on it and a different carb(forget the size but it is alot bigger then the stock mic vm 20 carb) squirted some gas in the carb and she fired. Next thing i put a chain on it and then tried to drive it and it wouldn't move lol. So i had and extra crank of a ytm175 and i put the 125 topend on it rigged that up and everything worked but the clutch needs a lil adjustment and i get this really weird noise on the down stroke.I thing it can be one of two things:1.bent crank because the topend seized bad according to the previouse owner or 2. The connection rod is hitting somewhere. So i have decided to go back and try to figure out what is wrong with the ytm125 bottom end because the 125 topend is fully rebuilt and has about 30 mins of runnning time on her and i wouldn't want 2 screw any thing up by the connection rod or piston skirt hiting anything. So no i have told my 10 min story lol it might be a little more help with figuring out this problem. One last thing the previous owner had a dealer rebuild the bottom end also. Thanks

I would look at the clutch first. Have you tried adjusting it?

I don't think it is the clutch because it wouldn't move. Even if your clutch is bad it will still move the rear axel but not really have a lot of torque(alot of slipping).

What bothers me is that no one will respond to a thread that doesn't relate to a good three wheeler like the tecate's and triz's and the tigers. I know some one on this forum knows the answer to altleast one of my questions.
