I just picked this up on Monday. The bike runs perfect. I am in the process of tearing it down and cleaning it very good. Then I found the bad news. The frame has a crack under the fork mount. The crack is about a inch and a half. What would you guys do? Would you try to have someone weld it, or do a frame swap? Or worry about it later? Next question is are all 250es frames the same? Open to all opinions on this. My 200x frame cracked also and I did a frame swap. Not fun!

Thanks, Adam.

I outlined the crack in red to give more of a idea.

I LOVE frame swaps!!

You can find a frame for that CHEAP....

Both the ES and SX are prone to cracking there, probably due to the heavy motor....

Swap it or reinforce and mig weld it up, those are your choices....

I CANNOT believe mine is not cracked, I jumped my SX HUGE a thousand times at 200lbs.

Yeah frame swaps are nothing, especially on a hardtail trike. I would just weld it though and keep an eye on it, if it progressively gets worst I would definetely just replace the frame.

If anyone has a frame the can sell for cheap let me know. Thanks Dirtcrasher. Me and my brother in law are going to trike fest. We are very excited. This is the bike he is going to ride. I am taking my 250sx. I guess all trike frames are prone to cracking. I hear of 350x, 250x, 200x, and now this. Also my 185s frame was starting to crack around the motor mounts. But I rode it like a suspended trike.

What kinda place would I take it to, to be welded? Hard tale would be easy. I had to do a swap on a 200s because some one welded the hubs to the axle and the carrier to the frame. Some people are crazy.

I would have it welded also, Ive had frames welded in high pressure places before and Ive never had one break again yet.

I have an extra frame off of "Fireball". The trike was in a fire, but the frame is good. What part of TN you in? How far from Memphis? You can have it.

I live 30 miles west of Nashville. I have had several offers now. You guys rock. I really appreciate it. I think Fuzzy8766 has one lined up for me. I am going to check with some welding places tomorrow first. I will keep you in mind TravEX. Thanks again.

If you ever make it towards memphis area, you could bring it to howies house and I am sure we could weld that baby up. THen once welded up, we could sleeve it to give it a stronger hold. Then we can try it out near my house and shread it! LOL:w00t:

I bought my YZ490 in Bartlett ScottZJ. I am going camping at LBL this weekend if the rain doesn't shut the trails down. Taking my 250sx though.

I got it welded!!!! The guy sanded it down really nice then said he could double it up to make it really strong or leave nice looking. I told him I don't care what it looks like as long as its strong. The guy was only 2 miles from my house. He does iron work for a living. Like metal fences, stairs, mailboxes, etc. He only charged me ten bucks. He said if it ever breaks again to bring it back and he will put a collar on it. This is a huge relief for me. Thanks again guys for the suggestions and offers on free frames.
