I will need to replace my water pump impeller once I rebuild my motor. I tried to do a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. Does some one sell a better one then the stock one like a one piece all metal?

no body makes one, someone (sry sprock)make a few but i think they had problems with them blowing apart. some people say a banshee one will work but has to be machined to fit in the water pump cover. you best bet is to just get a new stock one and keep a eye on your temps. when it strips out again just drill it and pin it.

Maybe rob/tamy can chime in with some pics, i think he pinned the pump in his z, or maybe it was raffa? i camt remember.

Thanks maybe I will ask my uncle to make me a one piece since he owns a machine shop with high end CNC equipment.

if you could make one, and "test/tune" it there are many z owners (my self inclueded) that would buy one.:beer

Contact Ronnie [Yamahondaman]. He made a bunch of billet water pump impellers, but I'm not sure if he has any left. He does nice work also.

Here is a thread about how to make your stock pump last longer.
If you read the whole thread, you will see where TimSr posted pics on how to do the drill/pin mod.

Mosh buys brand new ones. Drills them out and pins them with a roll pin. They last a long time that way. As an extra precaution, mosh runs a clear hose from the radiator to the water pump so he can see if the coolant is moving.

Contact Yamahondaman, here on the boards. That is where mosh got his clear hose, and he sends it with a trick billet cooler installed

I'm the one that Made the Anodized Billet Impeller.......................
they didn't work so well ... Alluminum Against Alluminum dosn't work so well...
The BANSHEE Impeller WILL NOT WORK, also they ride in a Brg. like the 250-R.....
SOON sometime this Year i will Have BRAND NEW TRI-Z Impeller's with the shaft made from 17-4 Stainless along with a Billet HIGH P.S.I. Water Spiral Attached...
I Will have a NEW FORUM Posted when they are done to "REIMBURSE" the one's that Purchased the Billet ones and then go from there ....
I Am going to GIT ahold of Cory and Moshman after they are done for Examination of this Item... There Judgement (to me) is 110% Top's for Final Inspection before Distribution to the ATV Community ... YAMAH0NDAMAN...AKA .. "Ronnie"

Hey Ronnie, I'm running two of your impellers right now! What happens with them when they wear out? What should I look for to know it's going bad? Milky trans fluid? I didn't know there was a problem with them.

I would not run your bikes any more with them impellers..the alum against alum dont work so good and galls up the shaft and will wreck your clutch cover, snap your gear on the back of the shaft..and your motor will blow..the mechanical seal cuts into the shaft and creates grooves in the shaft, wearing out your mechanical seal faster.. pull them out ASAP and replace with OEM with a roll pin..you will never have too worry about it again.
