What is the recommended transmission fluid for a 1985 250r And how much do you put in? My Dip Stick is broke off so I can't tell what level it should be!

So far I've been told Automatic Transmission fluid, 10W40 4 stroke oil, Honda brand 2 stroke transmission fluid, Bel Ray Gear Saver 80W, Automatic Trasmission Fluid Dexron 3, dumonde tech racing transmission oil, Can someone give me some help here1 Thanks!

whatever you like i like ams-oil atf thin but very protective and very high thermal breakdown!! but 10$ bucks a quart you decide i only run synthetic in my old machines!!

AMS is good if you got the money but I use Mobil1 20/50 or Gearsaver

There is no dipstick. There is a bolt you pull on the the clutch cover to check it. It should say "level or check" or something like that.

Id use the Honda trans oil.

Well I went with Bel-Ray Gear Saver 80W Always like Bel-Ray and it's what I use in the gas mix so I figured what the hey! Thanks All!

To check the oil level you remove the oil check bolt located directly underneath you oil fill cap, and if oil comes out then it is full. If you pull the bolt out and no oil pours out then you are low. Fill it with oil until it starts to come out again.

Honda recommends the use of a Honda 4-stroke oil or an equivilant high detergent, premium quality motor oil.

Recommended oil viscosity is SAE 10w-40.

Transmission oil quantity is .74 quarts after disassembly
and .64 quarts at oil change.

As you can see that is hardly any oil. Recommended oil change period is every 30 operating days or 3 months, whichever comes first.

well also my friend is an ams-oil dealer i get a rather good deal!
