Dam recoil

One of my dogs keep falling out of place. I have put this thing back together 2 times. I have both washers, the spring, all 3 dogs, and dog springs, and the c clip in place. What could be my deal?

The dog springs may be wore out. I'm having a hell of a time with a recoil myself.

Do you have the springs facing the right way. Put mine together backwards once and had that problem.

Are the dog springs bent? They may be so worn that they wont hold in the same place, or there in the wrong way.
