View Full Version : Can this be fixed (broken engine part)?

86 250r

on the bottem of the engine near the foot shifter, i was having a small leak...i discovered this....


Can it be fixed.....I am hoping if i take it to a welding shop they can do a miracle.............any other ideas, besides a new engine?

The broken piece actually mates up really good to the main engine part.......

Any competent aluminum welder can take care of that for you.

Thats great news for me....is this aluminum or cast aluminum? I wasn't sure if cast aluminum could be welded.

Its casted but its still aluminum and it can still be welded. IMO it'd be better to be TIG welded but theres probably some guys out there that could mig weld it without much issue.

Yes sir, find yourself a good welder with reputation. Even a couple hundred is peanuts to get it done right.....

Unfortunately you'll have to split the case but it's probably time anyhow and the 250R is a very simple yet EFFICIENT powerplant!!

I also hear great things about HREATV, it's worth looking into him.....

if billy remembers, he welded one for me JUST like that, i cant remember if i ended up using it or the other one i had.

i live about 10 minutes from HREATV and went to school with him. you ship me your case half and pieces:lol: and i'll get him to fix it and send it back to you

he tig welds his stuff

You might be able to get it welded with it still together.
