Guy I bought my 83 110 from said it was the motor that was in it when he got it. It has the high/low range on it but the serial number doesn't match up to any of the numbers in the "Specifications" page. Also the spark plug threads were a 14mm as opposed to the 12mm my other 110 motor has. I only know those sizes because I bought a compression guage today to check compression on the 3 motors that came with it. The 12mm should be the correct size because I recognized the plug that was in it DR8HS.
So why the larger plug???
Better yet, here is the serial number
TB02E - 2522229
No 110's have the second number beginning in 25 unless the spec page is incorrect. Any help??

well who knows for sure if it actually WAS the original motor so I dont think the VIN is much help. The frame still has the original 1983 sticker on it so I know it's an 83.

The Honda Bible says it is an 83 ATC110 engine. The 83 ATC110 engine numbers are TB02E-2500005 on. 84 engines are TB02E-2600001 on. Sometimes when you strip out a 12mm D series plug, you can tap it out to 14mm and use a corresponding B series plug, sometimes.
Hope this helps. If anybody else needs help identifying an engine or trike, let me know. I love my ID manual.

uh oh looks like it needs an update.
i thought maybe someone tapped it out and used a heli-coil. But dont you oversize it and then insert the stock size thread? What kind of plug would you use?

The Helicoil kit has its own tap, and then you insert the Helicoil. I just had my YTM head inserted with a Helicoil. I didn't realize that spark plug taps are a smaller diameter than a standard tap. I goobered my threads, and used the corresponding tap, which cut out excess material. My local Honda dealer inserted for me for free. I owe him a set of inserts for the next time I'm in there.

if the threads are bigger most likely its the b series plugs (ngk) there is a b series thats short but i dont remember the numbers something like b8ea just make sure its not the long threaded plug because i think the 110 takes short plugs
