hoping someone may able to help me on this one

question is: can i hammer the slider bushing, back up ring and oil seal into the fork tube BEFORE i insert the slider into the tube?
or do i have to put the slider in first then the slider bushing, back up ring and oil seal and hammer with the elusive 'seal driver' i dont have??

any help much appreciated

I'm confused but I'll try and help....

Once the lower allen bolt is removed, you go at the seal stuff.

Remove top "dust seal" with a flat screwdriver. Remove clip with proper tool. Now, yank on upper leg with a pulling motion and out pops the upper tube with the parts in this order. Seal, washer, upper bushing and then there is a lower bushing attached to the tube. Of course the damper rod and spring are still inside the tube.

Clean everything spotless..... Place lower damper rod and spring in tube. Slide in fork leg, slightly tighten allen bolt. Slide the upper bushing onto the tube with some oil on it and it can be pushed in the lower leg with your fingers, then the washer .Place plastic bag over top tube, slide over oil seal with oil on it. Get a piece of 2" PVC 8" long. Slice up both sides and remove enough material that it will fit inside the area that the seal will live in. Make sure not one spec of PVC crap is loose, should all be sanded smooth. Put elastics over PVC to hold it together. Drive seal into it's home and pop the clip in place. Then the dust seals goes onto the top, put in the big spring assembley, tighten top nut. Loctite lower allen bolt and tighten it, let it set and dump in the oil. DONE...............

Makes more sense if you read this and look at the manual at the same time.

you cant put the bushing/seal in first. you willhave to remove the bushing, and you will ruin it when you do....ive tried it before
