hoping someone may able to help me on this one

question is: can i hammer the slider bushing, back up ring and oil seal into the fork tube BEFORE i insert the slider into the tube?
or do i have to put the slider in first then the slider bushing, back up ring and oil seal and hammer with the elusive 'seal driver' i dont have??

any help much appreciated

You have to put the slider in first. I just did the forks on 1upfronts 250R and used a piece of thin wall pipe that just barely fit over the slider to put the bushing and seal in with. I sanded both ends of the pipe to remove any roughness before I used it.

A seal driver can be made with PVC tube that will fit over the fork tubes. Get about 5 inches minimum. 10 or 12 would be better.

I found a size with inner diameter a bit larger than the fork tubes that will fit into the slider.

The idea is to install the seal straight in without distorting the seal and maybe damaging something.
