84 honda 200x Questions

Thanks to Jeswinehart for the fast shipping and awesome packing job i finally got my 200x running....now all i need to do is work out some bugs......Thats were i need your guys help!!!!

First of all it runs like SH*T.....it seems really sluggish...im thinking carberator (even though i pulled it off and cleaned it)...When i give it gas it seems to sputter like it not getting enough gas or like bogs down as if kill switch or choke is on.......making hills nearly impossible.....What adjustments should be made to the Carb??

Secondly i was wondering if that could be related to the backfiring it seems to do, when i give it gas. I wonder if there is a timing adjustment on these trikes?

Where are you located, If you brought it over maybe we can get it dialed. are you running the stock airbox and exhaust?

I would definatly check the sparkplug. That happened to me on my YTM 200, and I just put a new sparkplug in, and it ran fine. If it is the timing, you would be better off using a manual to work with it. Timing is a pain in the @$$ to work with, and everything has to be set EXACTLY right. I have a few pages I photocopied out of a manual, but I dont have a scanner, so I cant get them on here. Not much help.. Anyways, hope you get it running good soon. Peace.

I guess so...the last two owners were even more clueless than iam....Lucky for me....they probably woulda trashed it even more!....They never heard it run....the lady didnt want to spend alot on a coil so she sold it to me for 100$.....I think it may be Carb though...It idles fine and i can rev it up to a certain point...then it starts cutting out.....valves are really noisy though.....Whats the recoomended oil to put into it?

Thanks Yamaha...yeah im gonna check that crap out this morning......hopefully when i pull the carb off again i will notice something obvious!

Well i pulled off the carb and cleaned it out agian.....nothing seemed wrong and it was squeaky clean.....So far the problems exists after i run it for a bit....idles fine but when i give it gas it gets sluggish....MAYBE too much gas is coming out??? I dunno, if it is, where is the adjustment for the gas excertion?
