I am learning that Honda made a short track kit for the 250R. Does anyone know what the part number (i know you cant get it anymore) is, and what it included? Was this a factory part or a Hondaline part? Did Honda offer any other performance upgrades or racing kits (ie: Baja?) that might be out there?

I am thankful for any info!

You can actually probably still get a tank, but only in a new black color and not in the original red color. All of the bracketry and the air scoops are discontinued for sure. Try a forum search for "short track part number" or some variations of it and I think you'll turn up a post by Aussieduner that has a picture of the box his tank came in with the part # on it.

I was lucky enough to find a complete nos kit for mine. If you are looking to buy one your only realistic options are going to be a used kit at a very large amount of money.

Hi:

I had a very (rich) friend that had that short track kit in 1985. he raced a lot, won a lot, and looked like a god when he rode!!! I recall he trained like 30 hrs a week. The kit came with super flexible rear fenders, super small fuel tank, New tripple tree giving true 180% turn and some other mods for the carb on stock bikes for racing.
It is not likely that he still has it but I can ask my sister in NH to call him if you want.
