With this bike I've been wanting to go all yellow (yellow plastics, yellow hoses, yellow hubs, yellow yellow yellow) and upgrade the OEM stuff along the way.
So far into the conglameration -
Pro taper ATV High bend Bars
Carlisle Trail Wolf Front Tire
K&N air filter with no box lid
Sprock Cool Head
Ronnie's Stainless bolts
Ronnie's Inline Cooler
Ronnie's Thermostat Delete
38mm PWM bored to a 40.5mm
Maier front and rear fenders
LSR Banshee sprocket hub
All Balls Front and rear Bearings
18" Kenda Klaw MXR rear tires on Banshee Hubs
Hagen's Stator Cover
Hagen's Peg's
SBLT500's Boost Bottle
SBLT500's Shifter
SBLT500's Motor Mounts
Just arrived today -
Progressive front springs
Yellow Silcone Hoses
In the Future -
Sprock's Right Side Case
Sprock's Billet intake
Yellow Seat
Yellow Hubs
Yellow frame
New Yellow Fork Boots (OEM are driving me nuts)
Aluminum front rim (or stripping the anodizing off)
Figured The Z's havent flooded the forum like this since i can remember (Always those High Strung Ugly Green Things or the red things Yamaha guys steal parts of of to make our bikes better) so we might as well drown 'em out.
I will update pics this Thursday or Friday after i get done installing the new springs

Why yes Edog, did you want an impeller as a Christmas ornament?
And for the record, I think i have seen just as many 250r's seize and have issues as Tri-Zs. A properly maintained machine that is respected will be reliable

Dudeness. This shalt be radical! How do you feel about a yellow anodize??? I see that being the sickness on all aluminum parts. Hoses look killer in yellow. I got mine last week and had to do some cutting and fitting with them. Compare to stock and cut to desired. Your gunna love them springs. I got em in my forks for my build. The billet intakes will be at my house soon i hope from sprock. I will be taking care of the anodizing. Good luck with the build man! PS if ya need a hand with getting some stuff powdercoated other than frame and swingarm hit me up. I can help you with that!

I'll keep that in mind, thanks for the offer. As for anodizing, I would have gotten everything in yellow if Sprock had that color as an option. BUT the bike will need Bling to offset the Yella:Bounce

the 18" would like coal, not freakin boulders that bend ATVs to their motor mounts
It may see coal, who knows. I just want to get my yellow plastics from Mrs. mosh. If you see it in person the things that really stick out are the shrouds and fork boots (they are old and need some love). It should have everything except the side cover by TF'08.

Jeff - I'll have to think about anodizing, I want lots of shiny parts to offset the Yella
I also updated the "Before" pic to one taken Before i owned it with the old plastics and no shiny parts. Actually looks very clean for an original machine.

When you come to pennsyltucky one of these days to pic up this damn bassani pipe we'll line 'em
I put the clip back to the center position to clean out the mid range a bit more yesterday, Revs much quicker without the unneeded fuel going to it, find out how much of a difference it makes at tomorrow's poker run. I hate to say it but after riding the X then jumping on the Z I find I miss the torque of the X . I'll throw some pics up, I have them taken just never remember to load 'em up.

Well this has obviously taken some time but thats fine, saved me from ripping the engine out 2x to install sprocks goodies.
Anyway here is a pic with all the yellow plastics and seat. Unfortunately it only stayed that way for about 10 minutes till I ripped it down. Still have to disconnect the swingarm, front end, unbolt gas tank, and then engine comes out.
I recieved the bassani, sandblasted the silencer and half the pipe. Going to finish up the exhaust tomorrow then paint or figure out the WD-40 method to give the pipe a burnt orange look
Oh and BTW, I'm gonna love taking a sled hammer to that $#@*^%! DG

I need to either buy an '86 front wheel or take the time and strip the front one of its gold. The rears need to be cleaned up as they are an ITP or douglas I believe. Alot of things i need to figure out still but it'll all be worked out in time.

nate are you referign to th3 works finish with the orangish coloron the xhaust? if so if you sand blast it it will just flash rust and look horrible
take it and have it jet coated or chromed that woudl be the bnicest way to keep it lookign good
Tri-ZNate
12-15-2008, 11:02 PM
na I did some research and what it is, is you take WD-40 and a Brillo pad to the exhaust after every ride I guess. It gives it a burnt look. It a PITA, and the exhaust is all done anyway, its curing as I type
oscarmayer
12-15-2008, 11:29 PM
nate, I knwo what your talking about. it doesn't work on normal steel.
it only works on stainless. i knw cause We did it to our drag headers and the machine shops all do it to their dyno headers for 2 reasons. 1-looks, and 2- helps them last longer w/o rust spots from where people touch the metal. but it must be stainless steel to work. normal steel comes out lookign like a brown rustish look and looks ban. your better off getting it either ceramic heat treated or chromed. it's your call. you can try it if your determined, but I can assure you, it won't be pretty and once you do it, it'll never take any paint or creatments as the oil will cook into the poors and nothign will ever stick to it again. so it's all or nothing. Me, I'd get it ceramic coated withthe black coating as the black handles the heat better and lasts a lot longer time than the polished look.
brapp
12-15-2008, 11:49 PM
that or untouched metal but as soon as you sabdbast it it creates oilpockets where the finish will not cook evenly you willhave to us ea verry verry verry fine liek walnut shell or soda blastit or something liek that if you wan ti tot be fine enough to get the burnt nickel color

Bird Birdie is getting some needed bling for the rear. I was trying to find parts to piece the rear together for my +8 swingarm so I didnt have to constantly swap parts. Then I found this setup and for a price that was plenty reasonable. The Axle, hubs, brake and sprocket hubs are $760

Supposed to be brand new (mine was pitted and scratched up) only 3 of the 4 bolt holes lined up. And the thing that really got me pissed off, int he pic you'll notice behind the number plate holder there are 2 spacers welded on. I had to GRIND off about 1/4" on each one in order to get them to mount up (there was NO way they could have fit on the inside of the frame like stock). Horrible quality and I'm hoping to atleast get them to revise the design.
On a Happy note I got the frame today, mounted the front end and plastics just to see how it looked. Frame matches close but my camera isnt that good on indoor pictures.
