70 not running right

My '84 70 isnt running right. It has a whinning sound that I think is the clutch. Not sure though. It almost sounds like the chain is to tight, but its not. It will start easily and idle great. When in neutral it will rev all the way out. When you put it in 1st gear it starts to make the whinning sound when you start to go. It has lots of power though. 2nd gear dogs a little and doesnt want to top out to quickly. If I run it on a long smooth area it will get going good. 3rd and 4th seem fine the noise gets quieter and it really gets up and goes. It can be a dog between 2nd and 3rd goin up a hill though. Any ideas of whats wrong would be great.
If anyone has parts that might fix the problem I may be interested.
