I've got an 84 200x. Lately here I've been having clutch trouble, it's fine then the clutch just freezes up. I think the problem is in the shaft that runs through the case, because I've had it off and reset everything, and it worked fine again for about an hour. That shaft in the case that pushes the pin on the clutches in to engage them looks a bit worn, could that be my problem? Just checking with you guys to see if anyone else has had this same problem before i go tearing it apart again. Thanks!

the shaft thats in the side case? if thats the one you are talking about then yes replace it, i had to do it on my XR200R (almost the same motor.) but i couldnt shift well, had a hard time finding gears, and i swaped in a new shaft, shift fork, shift star and after that its been Great!
unless you are worried about your previous work you did to it:naughty: i would just look to see if it has a sharp square edge or is it worn out, look and the corners well. i was lucky because i have 2 motors to chose parts from. so good luck!

Are you saying the clutch is "stuck" like when you drop it into gear it bangs and lurches forward a little or kills the engine all together? The Honda clutches are infamous for sticking. My dads 250SX is brutal. It has to be brake torqued in 1st to at least half throttle before it will break loose. My 200X will kind of bang into first gear as the clutches break loose. I really don't know what can be done to fix it though. We had an old SL 125 motorcycle that had to be put into 3rd or 4th and rocked before the clutch would break loose.

I don't think the clutches themselves are sticking. I had them off and they all came right apart from eachother. And as for shifting, I speed shift (no clutch) 90% of the time, and it never gives me any trouble. I just replaced the clutches, they've maybe got 10 hrs of ride time, if that on them. I'm assuming it's the shaft, and I'll try replacing it here soon. Thanks guys
