Does anyone have the info on Honda part #'s.
I am sure that most of the parts made for the 350X started with HA-5, and most of the 85 250R parts were HA-2. Does anyone have the info on this? I have a bunch of used parts and I am trying to acurately detail what machine they belong to. These parts were from the frankensteined 250R that I picked up.

Just looking at service honda, I see that my theory of the 350X parts being HA-5 and the 85 250R parts being HA-2 some what holds water. All the shared parts that did not change from those years to the later year quads have those #'s in their part #. The parts that changed have a new designation # to coincide with the fact that its a new design, thus a newer part#.

Thanks!

You are talking about the honda product code. It is in the middle of a honda part number. Each part that was new for a given application was given the product code of the original use. You are correct that HA5 is for the 350X, and HA2 is for the 85/86 250R. I found a web site a while back that had the complete listing, but I was not able to save it to a file. I printed it out and have it in a book. Here are a few more. HB5 = 86/87 200X, 918 = ATC90 & ATC90K1, 937 = ATC70, ATC70K1. And then there is the illusive HA9. See the attached pic I extracted from parts fiche, I think Honda assigned part numbers to owners manuals for trikes that were never built. There are three listed that I would give my left nut to own.
