Got another 200s atc's never die!

Possibly the most beat machine I have ever seen. 1984 200s that has been sitting in this guys back yard under three spruce for at least 7 years that I can remember (grew up two houses down) both front and rear bearings are pretty much non existant, the tires are bald and cracked apart (has tubes in rear) the seat is missing a large chunk and wrapped in duct tape and its got a pair of ape hangers on it.

The guy said it was seized but it should loosen up with some penetrating oil....

Found the missing recoil and fuel tank bolts along with other misc hardware and the spare plug.. I took off the old recoil and grabbed the flywheel with little hope and to my amazement it turned over smoothly!

With the addition of a rebuilt carb and recoil I had in the garage, a quick flush of the fuel tank, (it was empty but had a bit of surface rust in it) a new plug and an hour and a half of back breaking labour (mostly trying to get the stretched out throttle cable to loosen up so the bike would idle down)

It lives! started first pull with the choke on full and a bit of throttle, doesnt even smoke! not a total loss after all. Thats a piece of the rotten duct tape seat flapping to the exhaust pulses by the way, figured I might need some proof so you wouldnt think I was :crazy:

I have to bring my portable air compressor/battery booster along to fill the front tire every 20 minuites or so but I got to play with it for a while today, got some mud under the fender (note singular lol) for the first time in near a decade

I will drive ANYTHING but I will admit I was embarrased to ride this thing around town haha my girlfriend nicknamed it 'the shittiest hobo' too much fun not to though :w00t:

Also forgot to mention the front brake plate and pads is missing completely and the rears dont work at all, I doubt thers even pads back there. Gotta learn to plan ahead!

More proof that an ATC never dies, only hibernates.

Awesome find. I love the ape hangers in particular. They add that last touch of class the machine needed to be perfect. Nothing like airing your armpits out while going on a ride.

You know what this means, don't you? Now, you have to do a complete restore of it, pimp it out as much as is humanly possible, and then look at the old photos and wonder where your new machine came from...

Those look like the original tires. We have a couple look like that, put tubes in them and they work just fine. At least that one wasn't crashed as hard as one we brought back to life. Had to scavenge 2 to build 1 because of extreme abuse. I still can't figure out how somebody can crash these hard enough to bend forks, frames and axles and live.

Well after finding a mud hole and playing in it for a while sunday the tubes started coming out through the tires lol and the only 4 bolt rim I had with a decent tire (read: holds air for a couple days) went on the front that morning.

Today I was wondering what I could do to prevent myself from having to walk home from the bush and it hit me, old car tires! haha! so I dug through my pile of old tires and rims (that any self respecting hillbilly has) and found this old pair of 13" bias plys (http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i11/turbosprunt/P6110010.jpg?t=1210046162) on rims but the bolt pattern was too big.... so I grabbed my dremel and slotted them!

I'll have to pick up some gr8 3/8" flat washers tomorrow and weld them to the rims so the studs wont pull through, and I'll probabally flip the wheels backwards to give it some more width since its pretty skiny now.

This thing just chews right through the snow now and throws mud like you wouldnt believe, heres a pic after I went and 'tested' it in the mud.

Yeah it rides a bit rougher but with those handlebars its so comfortable to ride standing now that it doesnt matter. I'm starting to like this thing now, I dont wana cut it up :( oh well the tires will fit on my other trikes too.

With those 13" tires on it, you could pass it off as a parade ride for a Shriner clown. lol I'm thinking the ride might be a tad harsh.

The forks seem to get bent most often of any other pieces, it doesnt take much.

lol I thought it looked more like a tractor but if the shoe fits!, I wonder how many clowns I could fit on it???

Haha I'm still afraid of the tires falling off or the rear bearings locking up. Did I mention there isnt any brakes? Just adds to the fun!
