CDI interchanability

Well I lost spark on my 86 250r. So I baught a new 88 trx wiring harness and that wasn't with regulator and that wasn't it. I replaced the CDI box. That wasnt it! So I bucked up and baught a new 250w moose stator BINGO! Now I have spark BUT it seems to be not timed right! When I was looking for a CDI all the 250r CDI's went for big bucks but I noticed the 350x had the same connectors and were going a dime a dozen. So I baught a 350x CDI for my 250r and its getting spark but at the wrong time. Could this be because of the 350x CDI or something else?

its very rare that you can interchange cdi's with anything once in a while youll get lucky id say the 350x cdi is the problem.

The 350x cdi will not make the 250r run right.It will work for testing,but make the R run bad.It has been tried before.
You have to get a R cdi.
