Hello, I posted before but didn't get any answers. I'm hoping someone can tell me how to tell what year my Yamaha 125 TriMoto is? I want to buy some original decals for it but I want to make sure I have the right decals for the year. Thanks!! Jack

Try looking for a metal plate or decal on the stem (peice on frame that front forks go through to handlebars). It should say the year.

I forgot! So, I still don't know the exact year. The guy who sold it to me thought it was a 1981.

Hello! I checked the vin. number that is stamped in the steering head. It only has 9 digits unless you count the - (hyphen) in the middle of the vin? If that's the case then the 10th letter would be a 7. Making it an 87? The guy I bought it from said he thought it was an 81, it does look just like an 81 but who knows? Thanks for the advice, it is appreciated! Any other ideas?? Thanks again! Jack

Thanks for offering your help! My digital camera is messed up as of last month. It doesn't have a shock in the front. Thanks again! Jack:wondering

try lightly scuffing the vin with sand paper..some numbers and letters may be filled with paint..

Let's see if this helps, generally 80 and 81 are the same and 82 and later trimotos are pretty much the same. 125's came with the solid front forks and 175s' came with suspension front forks but the forks can be interchanged. A good way to check is at the rear bearing carrier. If the rear bearing carrier has 3 bolts in each side and chan only be adjusted by sliding from the front to back of the trike then it's an 80 or 81 frame at the very least. The 82 and later frame have a 2 bolt pivoting chain adjusting bearing carrier just like the 175s' have. As far as the exact year, try looking in the specs section on the homepage. Sorry I can't be of better help.
