So i bought a carb online from someone who was selling a beat down ATC200 and claimed he had a heap of parts for it so i asked him if he had a carb and he told me he did so I paid for it and it arrived just now and this is what i got it looks nothing like an ATC200 carb and i doubt it will fit and i dont c anyway how to change the choke position without accelerating. It has covers on the side but i took them off for the pics. Does anyone know if i could get that to fit coz im sick of waiting with no working bike.

My 200S is at a mates place at the moment il go around and see if i can get it too run with that carb and ride it home. I dont c anyway i could bolt it on as it does not have the same bolt holes and brackets as a 200S.

That's a carb off of an 85-87 ATC250ES Big Red or ATC250SX.

Doesnt seem that desirable... I only paid $25(NZ) and it certainly aint desirable too me. The choke doesnt change position unless i pull a certain way on where the throttle cable would go and even then it would just change back when i loosen the throttle. Whats the story with that?

the round slide isnt the choke its part of the throttle(if thats what you ment) its a 250sx or big red carb the idle screw was a little different on the 350x otherwise the same. it defenitly wont fit on a 200s though... just throw it on ebay and try reselling it...

I emailed the seller and told him about it and said i would be happy to send it back to him if he sends me a carb that fits my needs. I lost a screw which caused my bike to cut out so i might take that screw off this carb and put it on the 200 carb hopefully that will enable me to move my trike back 2 my place

you coulda bought the mixture scew from servicehonda.com for cheaper and be riding by now

My old carb is also leaking fuel whenever the bike is not accelerating and the petrol is turned to on the only reason it stopped completely was because i lost the screw and usually new parts cost an arm and a leg and it probably would have taken longer to ship from that site.

CLEAN your stock carb man. Its not hard to do and doesn't take long. The carb you have in the pic is for a 250es big red/250sx as others have already stated. It will not work on your 200s.

WaimakRydah

Ive cleaned it about 25 times when the bike wouldnt start at all now it starts but it also leaks. A mechanic i know told me it needs a new needle and seat to fix the leak.

The shipping from Ohio to New Zealand would probably be more then what the carb is worth. So i went to my mates place in hopes of replacing the air screw on the stock carb with the one of the new carb and the part of the screw which was visible snapped off as we used vice grips because a screw driver wouldnt work as someone had ruined the tip of the screw. Then i had 2 push it a fair distance back 2 my house and had 2 lift it over a stupid fence at a local park. It wont start at all now.

I have a chinese 2 wheeler. The engine from which is apparantly a copy of an XR200 maybe i could try the screw from that in the ATC. Does anyone know how i could get the trike to stop leaking fuel? Ive already cleaned it with CRC carb cleaner which hasnt fixed the problem (however it did at one stage but the bike started leaking again about 2 days after)

Have you checked your float? There's a tab on the float under the needle valve that if bent will let the bowl overflow. Just figured Id throw that out there just incase it was overlooked.

SYKO
05-20-2008, 08:43 AM
yes check the float, also the float needle seat might be worn out that could cause a over fill problem as well.

Erics350x

Did you take the carb apart and clean it? I've seen alot of people try and clean a carb by just spraying cleaner through the rear of the carb, which does nothing but waste carb cleaner

Man you sure are going through a lot of trouble for nothing. Don't take this the wrong way as I'm just trying to help. You have posted several times about your carb issues. In my opinion, you don't go and buy another carb when your stock carb just needs a good cleaning. The screw your looking for comes in a carb kit. A kit is about $15-$20. You need to take the carb apart and CLEAN it! Also as others have stated, your float needs adjusting. You have already bought another carb that won't work. Your lifting your trike over fences???
There are plenty of people here that will help you with your carb problems but you need to take the advice thats given to you.

WaimakRydah
05-20-2008, 03:43 PM
Ive tried cleaning it and all that and I could buy a kit and still have issues for me it seems the most efficient way is to just buy a new carb for it usually new parts from honda dealers over here are ridiculously priced and they usually have to be shipped from either Japan or America. But with Trademe(an NZ auction site similar to ebay) I can buy what i want for a decent price

Hey I'm just trying to help the guy. I hate to see him spending a bunch of money and still having the same problem. The problems he is having can be easily be fixed. But hey, if he wants to just buy another carb thats thats up to him.

Well how much do u want? I dont have alotta money I paid $25(NZ) for the big red carb with $6 shipping fee and for were I am it may cost a little bit more because I'm in the south island and it wouldnt surprise me if the cost stated was to the north island.

What is your postal code?? I talked w/ my brother this morning, his discount is only on domestic shipping, not international  get me your postal code and I will dig a little deeper into the shipping issue, but I fear your statement about shipping being more expensive than the carb is correct. As far as cost for the carb...Ive got $20.00 (US) in one that I am going over/cleaning right now. It is missing the plastic needle jet holder (plastic piece that slides over main jet) which others here have said is not really important, and if your stck carb has 1 already, you could just transplant it into this carb. I have not bolted it on to my 200x to tune it yet either-been busy gutting my bathroom and dumping sick cash into decorative tile:twisted: . Looks like the big obsticle is shipping as you previously stated. If you just need the pilot screw and seat (this can be tricky to remove!!) I could just put that in an envelope and mail it relatively cheap. sounds like your carb needs at least a pilot screw, pilot seat, and depending on where its leaking gas from, bowl gasket and float/float needle seat as well. Check some more on your NZ e-bay "trademe" and see what you can find. Perhaps someone has a rebuild kit they can sell you, or another carb. you could use to make 1 good carb., and you can avoid the opressive shipping fees.

Ive been checking trademe for the past few days and have only came across afew so far which are all off XR200s and I would like 2 pay less then what they want for them & there is no carb rebuild kits on there that would fit my bike. My post code is 7630

Nathan,
Even if I "donate" the carb., you will have ~ $130.00 (NZ) just to ship item..I listed what FEDEX and UPS charge (in $US) for standard shipping to your location. Let me know what you would like to do.. You can PM me if you like to work further on shipping a 200X carb. to NZ. If you buy me a roundtrip air ticket, I will bring the carb myself and install it...You'll have to find a trike for me to borrow, cuz' Im dying to see the NZ country side!! Hey.. I was checking out your "trademe", and it looks like there is a guy "christene22" who has 2 200s's for sale for $700, 1 is in rough shape, maybe you could make him an offer and have an extra bike for parts??
