:Bounce Well, I bit the bullet and got a brand spankin' new 2008 xr650L:drool: . I'll post up pics tomorrow. Have not really ridden it much yet - a couple miles down the road at the dealership - and out the lane and back. Seems to have tons of torque.
More to come. Off to bed now though!

OK - here are 2 pics from this morning. BTW - this thing is freaking huge - I am 6'3" and I can get a leg over - no problems - but I am not 100% flat foot when I sit on this bike. I will have to get a comparison picture of it beside something else to show it sheer size. Hope it has the strength to match it's size.

BTW - the first modification will be the removal of this silly octopus looking thing. I did not know what is was at first. It is a Smog Pump.....WTF - like this bike is a real polluting machine or something. Thanks California and all of your tree hugging freaks. Anyway - removing this makes the deceleration backfiring calm down some. Boy - this thing really "smacks" when you let off the gas - which from all I have read is completely normal.

Sandpuppi, that was the first thing I asked too.
When he gets bored with this bike, it will make one SWEET ATC650X.
Tim, how does it wheelie??

no wheelies yet - gotta break her in easy. I want this one to last me 11 years like my last bike did!
And yes - I have thought about a trike conversion - but my gosh not yet fellas!! LOL - I gotta get some 2 wheeled seat time:)
nice, and big fer sure!!! now you need a plate. huffa will help ya if you need any info. i think he has the 650 down pat. i still have the octopussy on mine but want it gone. the carb will need slight adj and she will run real smooth.

now you need a plate.
A license plate??? There is one on it - not sure if that is what you mean or not.
I would like to hear about making her run stronger and smother!
What carb adjustment needs done? I would love to put an aftermarket exhaust on it along with a better breathing intake. It for sure seems to be "cut back" somewhere.
I also read that the Smog Pump really does not effect power much at all - just weight savings and looks.

If I could buy a new bike thats the one it would be. Very nice. I have been eying them for years. We just bought a camper, but as soon as its paid for I can see one of these in my garage.
