Are there any common problems with 2nd gen tecate 3s? Im thinking about picking one up....but I am not sure what to look for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

well all i can really think of is the stock stator and flywheels. typical on t3's for the magnets on the flywheel to come loose. check the shock to, more then liekly if its been ridden hard , it will need a rebuild as well.

I concur.

I've been wondering about the water pump seals? I have two motors and two bad seals, (along with kicker and sprocket seals).

Right rad shroud is green gold.

Bolts stuck in gas tank shroud mounts.

i also had a bolt stuck in my tank as well. i ended up drilling it out and helicoiling the hold. i had to grab the brass insert with a needle nose while i drilled and tapped the insert. hornet powersports sells new sets of radiator shrouds and headlight covers, and chaplin kawasaki sells repro. decals and the rest of the plastics except the gas tank which you can't buy anymore. i used redkote on my tank and am having it color matched and painted. also alot are missing the coolant overflow tank as well. i still don't know why they are missing them, but you can't buy those anymore. front and rear rotor bolt like to freeze in the holders and the allen head strips out. i had to drill 3 of mine out and helicoil one. kawasaki doesn't sell the bolts anymore, but rockhound motorsports has stainless and standard bolts for sale. also kawasaki doesn't make a piston for it anymore so you have to go with wiseco. overall i think they are the best looking trikes. can't wait to get mine done.

All the above and the Nikasil coating gets worn off the cylinder, there are very few exhaust choices, the short straight carb mount is discontinued.

I would buy that in a heartbeat!!!

Its definitely worth $1000 as it sits. What a lot of people don't know about them is that the powervalve actuator assembly has a reverse thread bolt on it. they get broke all the time. there is only a few ways to mess the valves up, both easy fixes. throw in the spare parts you have 3/4 of a 2nd T3. I've seen rollers go for $5-600 easy.

Bolt comin loose from vibration seems to be a common problem on all older Kawis... Keep your tools close
