Hey I was just wondering................... I got an 84 70 that needs the head replaced. spark plug hole is all striped out and had 2 different helicoils in it. What I was wondering is would an 02 xr 70 head fit, or a 77 atc 70 head fit. And if you know the differences in them or what I would have to do to make one of them work.

Bike bandit had different parts listings for both heads and headgaskets for each of the 2. If you know could you give me a shout.

Ive searched for a while but couldnt find anything on it so I figured one of you guys would know.

Thanks

Leif

Gunnar,

I believe you'll find that all of the 70 stuff will interchange no problem.

The very late model stuff has ball bearing supported cams that make it really nice! They'll swap on too but you'll have to swap out the cam chain sprocket on the crank because the late model stuff (2000 and newer I think) uses a hyvo style chain to go along with the ball bearing cams.

You could find this out by doing a search on one of the parts suppliers like RonAyers.com

All of the earlier stuff has the old school roller cam chain.

Good luck and ride safely!

So if a 2000 or newer head was used you would also need the cam right?
