Looks very nice. Is that a new rear axle or did you refinish the old one (with what?)? I have never seen those rear tires before, what kind are they?

the axle was a chrome +6" axle that came on the bike when i bought it. i have the stock one as well. the tires and rims also came on it. they are 22" tires called McCreary Trailbreakers. i'll try and get some better pics over the weekend in some better lighting

Wered ya get the FMF pipe?
My 87 builder had an FMF that was from a KX dirt bike, I had to cut it to make it fit right...]

the pipe came with it. it was chrome and dented up, but i repaired it and had it ceramic coated. not sure if it was from a dirtbike or not. the old crappy muffler that was on it had a long pipe that attached to the expantion chamber that i had to cut off and use with the DG muffler. so it is kind of a 3 piece exhaust. thanks for all the comments. it really rips.

Hey..Is that chain loose?
joe_f7
06-22-2008, 12:07 AM
yup. i rechecked everything after a little ride around the house. i figured the chain would stretch and it did. all tight now. supposed to have about 2" of play according to the book.

well i paid $1500 before the rebuild. i lost track of all the money after that. here is all the stuff i can think of off hand. ceramic/powdercoating $550, cylinder repaired and renicasiled $220, plastics about $400, misc engine seals and bearings and parts $300, gas tank lined and painted $170, decals $80, new piston rings $50. handlebars $70, muffler $60, airbox cover $50, buying 2 used cylinders $100. that's all i can remember now. i'm sure there is more, but it all ads up fast.

looks like these photos are the before?
nice work!
i think thats a bills pipe you have there. interesting that it doesnt have the stamp on it. but it bends up pretty early like the bills, none of the other pipes are like that.
