If you want front suspension, use the yt175 front end. Of course an aftermarket pipe will do wonders for the trike. There are not near as many aftermarket parts available for the yts' that were available for the honda since the production figures were less. Alot of people block off or don't use the oil pumps and premix. Looks like there will be suspension kits soon, which I would recommend since it would make a full suspension trike. People are looking into motorcycle engines fitting into both the yt125 and yt175 frame which were both the same on 1982 and later trikes. Alot of parts are still available through the dealer and you can still find some nos plastics from time to time if you keep your eyes open. It's a 2 stroke and will respond well to porting and polishing. As far as anyone can tell, the top end of the yt175 will bolt on to the yt175 making your trike a 175. Make sure you have good reeds and a couple extra spark plugs. There are aftermarket heads and wide rear axles floating around, but they are pretty uncommon, but not unheard of. Mainly, just have fun.
