Look at the frame rail, and side covers the exhaust looks jacked up. That bike has been hamered. You can really tell how much a bike has been riden by the teeth on the footpegs.

yeah i looked at that but its still a decent trade for the kfx which needs a new piston and cylinder and has been abused pretty bad, i took that off everything around, and plus hes giving me $500 cash so i dont think its too bad of a deal, im just going to set it up to ride on the street anyways and ride my sportsman.

didnt you have it ported to be a 505 or somthing like that?
Have fun, that thing is gona kick your ass, good luck on getting it on the street, its Calss'd as a MX-off road bike only, Not to mention, you would have to completely rework your front+rear suspension.

510 ice cube but the thing worked like *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* and i had to get a new cylinder and piston so i just bought a whole new motor, which kept pissing oil so i had to get all new seals, its nothing but trouble anyways.
And mytrikesucks thanks for being enthusiastic and polite, always a help.

nah. depending on the state you are in, Dual-sport conversions are usually relatively easy.

That front cable is routed in the wrong direction...should be on the inside of the fork. TM Designs make a good nylon set of chain sliders and case saver...kinda pricey but well worth it. Keep the chain 3 fingers width from the back slider...you may hear slap from the chain very normal with stock slider. Keep the Filter spotless and if you ride through alot of rivers I would consider re routing the breather hose on the shifter side. Unplug the grey wire for more revs and 1HP gain. Look to www.ThumperTalk.com for some real good info and mods lots of Yamaha folks over there. GET RAD BRACES OR CAGES 1st THING....cheaper than replacing a smashed rad....Trust me a simlpe lay over could cost ya $400 in parts not body.

Thanks man, i bought it for $4000 as opposed to trading the kfx actually, so now i have 2 bikes to ride. I wrote down what you told me to do and im going to go work on it tomorrow and pick up some parts at the yamaha dealer, already bought a set of spare tires.

Oh, and im from Canada.
I love the YZ450. Yours appears to be either an 03 or 04 model?? I have an 03 that I have been riding since spring. I ride the ride open sand trails here in northern Michigan and ride right from my house. I had an 01 alum. framed XR650R that I rode all last year, but wanted something lighter. The light weight and easy starting of the 450 is really nice. Take the advice on the radiator braces they are a required. I turned mine into an off-road version, handguards, frame and rad. braces, oring, ss sprockets, FMF sparkarrested silencer, etc. Here's the kicker. These 03-04 YZ's only have a 4 speed tranny! Stock gearing is 14-48 and is way to slow. The bike needs more speed. I changed to a 15-46 and it is tolerable on the top end, but a bear on the bottom end trying to get moving or in tight trails. Even with this gearing, the bike will pull the front end up at top speed. I was thinking about even going lower with the gearing. How do you like the speed on yours??

its an 03 , the guy i got it off said it was an 04 but i checked the registration, and yeah this ones geared the same as yours at 15-46, but it was what came on it. I think it makes a good trail bike myself actually, its powerfull for sure but it gets me good around the trails, i wanted a banshee all my life for the trails but i think this fills my need for power, how reliable are they, and to tri-z 250 if i haul that wire what is it?
