Does anyone know if a silencer from a 250R 1987 quad will fit a 250R ATC?

Does anyone know if a silencer from a 250R 1987 quad will fit a 250R ATC? My freind found a OEM one for sale from a quad that he wants.

No, not a chance.

I inquired with ATV Cycle Salvage and they said a 1986 TRX250 silencer will fit the 250R ATC. Not sure about the 1987, but the guy seemed pretty confident on the 1986 quad to 1986 ATC being the same. You sure the they won't interchange?

I am going to say that it sure looks close. They look awfully similar but the tail pipe and others are not the same part #'s. Take a look for yourself. Click the following links and then select "Exhaust Muffler"

Part numbers are different but boy do they look exactly the same. My freind went ahead and bought it so when he mounts it, I'll clarify this one.

ther eis a diffrent bend at the neck of the silencer and the headpipe are diffrent between allthe trx's and the atc's
