Hi everyone, I recently bought a Honda ATC and i can't wait to take it out tomorrow afternoon. The ATC itself is a bit of a hybrid between a 1982 200 and an 1983 200x. It has the frame and suspension of the 200x but the motor of the 200 as well as the semi automatic.

Basically i had a few questions. Im going out tomorrow with it and i would like a few basic riding tips (I can't find any on this whole site???) Ive never ridden a trike except for up and down my street but i have ridden several dirt bikes.

I was also wondering what the best stuff to wear would be tomorrow. I have a street bike helmet for now but i have no MX pads or anything. Is there anything i might have at my house (I have a lot of sports equipment) that would work for makeshift protection, or if i drive sanely i should i not need them for now (I have gear coming just not here yet)

Thanks

Welcome to the site.

Definately any helmet is better than none. Some over the ankle boots would be good to have.Even work boots.
Gloves work good too to keep the blisters off your hands. We use Mechanix Gloves from the Auto store.

As far as riding,be prepared to use lots of body english(leaning) To keep the trike stable.Watch out for off camber trails. They tend to make the trikes dive off the low side of the trail.
Also Keep your feet on the PEGS at ALL times so they dont get sucked under the rear wheels.
Take your time, dont ride too fast and plan your lines.Riding a trike is much funner than quads becuase of the challenges that come with controlling a trike. They are more of a rider machine, vs. letting 4 wheels keep you stable.

1. Never put your foot down.
2. Put your weight on the outside peg when you turn.
3. Think ahead, and look where you want to go, not where you want to avoid.
4. Never put your foot down.
5. Never put your foot down.
6. Never put... (get the picture?)
