Ok, have a 1985 200s here. When I bought it the motor did not run. I bought a rebuild kit for the carb and it ran pretty well right away but always had a hesitation right above idle. I played around with the needle and it runs best with no hesitation with the clip on the top setting. As it sits now I am pleased with the results, it starts right up with one or two pulls cold and first when its warm. The problem is, once it starts up the motor seems to take forever to warm up. It will not idle on its own until I ride it for about 3-4 minutes. I believe the jets are stock size, cant remember the number on them but I compared the # on the jets when I rebuilt the carb. The jets in the rebuild kit were the same as the OEM jets. Also, it seems to run better with the mixture screw out further than it should be. I think I have it at like 2 3/4 turn out. The plug looks good. I was thinking it may be running too rich and may need a smaller pilot. My Fathers 84 Big Red has pretty much the same engine and it will start up and idle when its cold no problem. Its just annoying to have to start it and stand there for 3 minutes holding my thumb on the throttle to keep it from dieing first thing. Maybe its running too lean and needs more fuel, I dont know, I hate taking the carb off because its a pain in the butt to take it off and put it back on just to make a simple adjustment.

Glad you mentioned that. When I first start it I apply full choke. I will run fine for about 5 seconds cold full choke then start to miss a little. I then use half choke for about 2-3 minutes at a slightly high idle. After that I will putt around the yard for a couple minutes in first gear. After that it will usually idle on its own.

have you tried adjusting the idle screw or even the a/f mixture screw?
