Hey I got it cheap!
1984, had all new gaskets but won't run, no spark, its had new coil, I suspect the stator, will check it tomorrow, only had it a few hours and I'm torn into it already!

How do I check if the Stator is ok? my Haynes manual says nothing about it? I have a multimeter, is there a specific resistance for it or what?

I usually check the two wires coming out of the coil that connects in wiith the wiring harness. Put both of the testers down these wires and you should get a reading, I don't know how much with that 70. If you don't have a reading, the coil is bad. By that way, Honda only provides resistance specifications for the 1981+ ATC 110 and the ATC 125m.

I've put a meter on the wires coming out and what ever you do we get 0volts, must be dead.

Fullbore, nice to see you are adding to your collection.

Dont think 70s are too rare over here (we have 3), possibly third best seller after 110 and 250es.

No 70s in the uk had headlights, but i think the wiring diagram shows that they were fitted by honda for some markets.

did you check the points i had a 70 and thew were just dirty some sand paper and the bike fired up frist pull!! :D just a thought!

These points are nice and clean, they look quite new too, I'm going to have another fiddle with it on friday before buying a new stator, if i can find one that is, i have $100 to spend on it. As for lights, this has extra wires and connections coming off the stator, if it works I'll connect up a head light, should be pretty good, doesn't need a switch, it can just stay on can't it? I think the limit was a 25w bulb?
Right after I've got all the crappy stickers off though!

it has an aftermarket silencer, its just a replacement, not a DG or anything, I put it on years ago for the previous owner. it is loud though! as for paying for it, I swapped it for this,

the guy gave me the atc70 and £60, thats about $90, the bike I swapped it for only actually cost me $45!
