well my 200x that ive been working on is still a pile of steel in the back yard lol but i found a complete 200x parts bike with everything on it from a guy who just restored one. He knows what the parts are worth so it wasnt exactly free but it gets me a hell of alot closer to getting mine together, aparently the guy who had it cut the front off the frame to try to stuff a 400ex into it, but failed lol. So seeing as i have a good main frame for my 83 ill just swap the swinger and everything to it and call it good :D ill be picking it up tomorrow before work so i should have a few pics up for you guys before i get flamed with a this thread is useless without pics :P
hes also got 3 other 200x engines that are if various states of needing a rebuild, might pick those up later when some money allows. Had to buy a new truck so money is kinda tight atm.

let me knwo if you cna get a 200x frame swinger and front fork setup. basically a roller w/o a motor setup or plastics. jsut wondering how much they cost.

thats basically what i started with a year ago, was a freebie but in rough shape... as far as parts go, your best bet is the people on this forum :D

well guys got her home today, i dont like how the frame has been cut in 4 pieces on the down tube so im thinking ill sacrifice the beat 83 for the down tube and weld it in one shot, then get it running :D it looks like its in amazing shape tho for whats there, front brakes work but need new pads, rear has no brake fluid yet so its unknown with that... Swingarm bearings are good and tight, ordered some chain tensioners for it today, should have my mounts within the next week or 2 and have the engine in :D anyways as promised some big pics :D What you guys think?

omg she looks good boss, but why cut 2 frames up? whats wrong with the 83?
gizmo_22
07-25-2008, 05:59 PM
everything lol
gizmo_22
07-25-2008, 06:00 PM
its really beat and i found some spots where the frame was "modified" by the previous owner, and the 84 stuff wont bolt up without a trip to the machine shop... so its easier for me to cut the 83frame and get myself a good strong 84

ahh ok well get at' er
gizmo_22
07-25-2008, 10:28 PM

alright well welding took a back seat this weekend, ended up having to haul some wood with my friend but thats payment for the welding lol, all the parts i need are ordered so within the next week she should be back to a solid frame and have the engine in, then all i need to do is get out the airbox in the shed slap on a filter and play with the carb some :) and the usual oil change/bleed brakes etc etc...

gizmo_22
07-31-2008, 02:46 PM
well chain tensioners came in as well as my intake i needed, but now i need to get a swingarm bolt locknut, mine decided to strip, bah another minor setback also picked up some brake pads so i still have some stuff to do, get the motor and wiring in, new sprockets, bleed brakes, etc... oh anyone by chance have a complete airbox assembly for an 84 200x they want to sell, the airbox i have isnt for this bike and with the trails around here i need the full box...

well started on the brakes today after work... front caliper and master are trash'd and the back is gouged so bad brake fluid just runs right through the rear master... so i guess im back to ebay to find some stuff that works.... man its frustrating sometimes.

200 xs are not that rare in the maritimes. I have seen 4 with out even looking. Another site to check out is kijiji.ca. There is a nice 1986 one in halifax section for 2000 with papers. Or quadpro.ca.

84honda200s ya man i know its up to the mail now so no biggie on your part :) had the s out for a ride yesterday with a few friends in the rain, me on the trike and them in their trucks lol... i made it anywhere they did in the mud, was a good time. As far as my brakes are concerned i havent had a chance to look at them lately, too much rain... but i might just bite the bullet and order new oem cr brakes for the rear and a kx 85 caliper for the front... my stock brackets are gonna be hard to get off the old x stuff but manageable... i dunno yet.

yay! well turns out was just the line that was bad on the rear master, got it bled all nice like and its holding great pressure, got my dead 200 in for a mockup so i can see how i want to make the brake pedal... front brakes are done tho... ah well abit cheaper to have to replace one set rather then 2. got the swinger mounted up with the new tensioners and locknut.... man that was a pain, had to carefully file the threads on the bolt because they were mostly messed up but i got it after awhile... only other things i can think of is drill out a few broken bolts for the grab bar, get a few longer bolts for the foot pegs, swap over the engine and harness from the 185 and go play :D cant wait!
sorry for the crappy pic, camera is dead and cell, well it works kinda.

well marginal progress so far, in the test fitting of the motor i found out the alignment is a little off on the rear mounts so once my motor mounts get here we'll get that all fixed up, other then that everything is almost ready to roll... dressed the welds a little bit and threw on some primer for the time being. But dont worry the frame will get a new coat of paint in the near future... Anyways some more random pics for all you guys. Oh and Tecate 250 the last pic was a cell phone pic... these were taken with my Fuji S700, not a real $ camera but takes nice pics.

man im digging that headlight, was it hard to wire, and how did you go about doing it?
gizmo_22
10-12-2008, 12:15 AM
the headlight is an old driving light from my car, its not an ideal pattern and isnt very bright but it does provide something in the dark... its not hard at all, ground to the handlebar clamp and the hot wire connected to either your low or high beam on the stock wiring.
