I have a 1979 ATC110. The rear sprocket has the rubber cushions inside it for dampening I guess. Has anyone here ever re-geared a 110? I am looking for a smaller rear sprocket (as I will be running smaller rear tires) and want to keep my top speed up.

Any help or links or photos would greatly be appreciated.

Tim

Sure, you can re-gear, but you will need to get rid of the stock cushioned sprocket assembly and bolt directly to the hub. I can't remember if that would be 49 tooth or 53 tooth, those were the stock sizes and I think 49 for 110 and 53 for 90. You don't want to drop too many teeth unless you're running a cam, air filter and maybe a bigger carb. Dropping too many teeth on a stock engine can be tough on the engine.

You are right but he's also mounting smaller tires on the rear, with a smaller rear sprocket you don't give more load to the engine.
Maybe try a search about SWIGIN 110. I think he installed a 200x axle his trike. Maybe the 200x sprocket is smaller???

That auction site that alot of people don't like is a good place. No one carries the parts in their catalog any more. Also I hope you know that replacing the front sprocket is a real pain since you have to remove the hi/lo gearbox and part of the engine casing to do it. Those front sprockets can be expensive if you can find them. Unless you get lucky, you may be stuck with trying to get them through the dealer. I'm not really sure who is the biggest sprocket maker now, but you may want to try and find their website and see what they offer for the 110. And if you find anything really good out, post it on here.

Trizilla - you got a good nose - LOL. I found a front and rear sprocket with a chain (all new) on ebay for $60. Normally the fonts sell for $35 - $50. Problem is - I want a smaller rear.

I finally got my 79 running after about 2 years or so. Last time I had it out and tried to get it running - I got so mad - I pushed it to the back of the garage until I got around to it. Well - I guess I finally got around to it. I had 3 things all working against me before - bad coil wire - bad carb - 1 tooth out of time. She fires and runs pretty good now.

Thanks for the info guys. Swinig was on the money - Dennis Kirk offers 48, 49, and 50 tooth rear sprockets available.
