View Full Version : Tapping/Ticking 125m And Leaking Oil

Hey All,

Just more problems with my 125m.. I've noticed it's making tapping/ticking noises and is now leaking oil from forward of the engine as well, not much but a bit. I'm wondering if the piston rings need replacing. If so would that cause the irregular tapping sound too?

Also, I still can't get the damn mix right on this either, and it's still randomly increasing idle speed all by itself, it will either sit there and die, or suddenly for no reason at all increase it's own RPM's and only stop if I switch it off.

As suggested by someone previously I've checked the choke and no, it's not been left on :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

taping is normally valves.......check your clearance

If the idle is all over the place, I would check for air leaks around the intake or carb or fuel delivery. I'm not sure what you mean by "the mix" either. I hope you mean carb adjustments and not pre mix?

Yep Carb Adjustments. If there is air getting in somewhere that may explain the sudden changes in RPM's as well. However the weird thing about those is the RPM's will go up to a certain level and stay there, not drop or go any higher.

Does anyone know if there is meant to be a gasket between the bottom side of the manifold? There is one at the carby end but not at the other, however I think that's the same with my other 125m as well so figured it was normal.

I'm pretty sure there should be a gasket there, that probly explains your changing idle.
