I just got these for my 86 R recently. Got a couple questions.
On the Westcoast, are the two holes for the pinch bolts that keep the bearing carrier in place supposed to be threaded like a stocker? This one is not so I'd have to use a bolt/nut combo. Not sure if that's normal or not on these.
Regarding the carrier, is this a dual row? I don't have a stocker out to compare it to. If it is dual row am I going to need a different inner spacer or does it work with all the stock components? Not sure how it could work with all stock components with two bearings per side in there. I know there's some extra space in the stocker but I don't remember it being that much extra. They use two sets of stock bearings right?

a nut and bolt is normal for aftermarket swingarms.
that carrier takes a dual row bearing....NOT 2 stock bearings doubled up.
i dont know why people think that but its just like it sounds, a single dual row bearing.

THE BEARING # IS 6908 AT A BEARING HOUSE,, its a refridgeration pump bearing,, you will have to measure between the steps in the carrier and that is how long the spacer should be,,, it should be tight between the bearings when installed,,, the pinch bolts use nuts to,, there are no threads in the carrier. i also just got a swinger for a 86,,, its a +3 so now i have both ,, 85 and 86.

I just noticed there's no identifying marks on this carrier so I'm not even sure Lonestar made it at this point. It looks like it but I don't know how to tell for sure. On the Lonestar site their carrier has a serial number stamped on it.
Edit: I didn't know Lonestar was here in the valley. Anybody wanna go dumpster diving over there? Blems for sale!

Lonestar, RPM, and Laegers were actually all started by the same guy John Perry of JP Racing. John was a crook who is actually dead now of drug overdose but he came to az after Mark Laeger kicked him out and started up RPM with Dale Aurich who also kicked him out after shady deals. Later, some machinists decided to do business with John and formed Lonestar but that went sour too. The guy had so many enemies I think it just all caught up to him after awhile.

That's funny.... my 350X Westcoast was actually setup for both year brake calipar mounts thus making it useable on both years. I'd a thought they'd do that on the water 250R's too as its a similar change in the bracket. Or was there a shock difference between 85-86Rs??
