Personally, I WONT buy a new car. I like the proverbial "little old lady" deal. So what do you guys think about this....I got a 96 Cadillac Sedan DeVille with 50K original miles ZERO rust, new tires MINT buttery soft cream colored leather interior, 32valve V8 that HONESTLY gets 28-30 MPG on the highway for $3000. I saw this car on the side of the road on my way to work. Turns out the little old lady's husband died (RIP) and she had her grandson selling for her, he was easy to negotiate with! I love it, Always wanted a big luxo-yacht. Could use a wash and wax but its raining so that will have to wait. Oh ya, Insurance with glass and comprehensive (deer hits, etc.) is only $260 per year WHOOOOOOOO:Bounce

Hate to talk sh!t about your new car, but have fun when that thing goes. Those Northstar V8's are the biggest piles of sh!t. Oil leaks, head gasket blow, etc etc. I've had a couple of these cars at work, and I'm talking LOW LOW miles, 9,000 miles it is POURING oil out of the case seal. Other than the engine though....they're pretty nice cars. Oh yeah...if that thing ever even THINKS about overheating, shut it off. Seen that happen quite a few times, people overheat them and warp the heads, then when you take the heads off, it strips out the block where the head bolts go in. They do make a special little kit just to rethread the block, costs about 500 bucks last time I heard. Good luck with it!

I agree with J.D. i had a 97 seville sweet looking black on black, it was a old couples car. i know this becasue of a the gray hair under the seats and stuff. anyway 68000 miles head gasket bad, then it was one thing after another for the next two years i put up with it. driving down the road at 65mph, car dies. one little wire came loose killed everything. when it does break do not take it to a caddy dealer if you can help it.

I heard the opposite about the northstar V8. Must be mistaken. I sure hope I dont have those kind of problems. I thought I had read somewhere that they are really good. Hmmmmm

My ex had an elderado, fun car to drive. She had an oil sensor go bad at the wrong time, fried the motor because she depended to much on the sensors to tell her what to do. So make sure to check your oil regularly.

I'm sure it's a nice car but, why would you want a tank like that for? i highly doubt it gets that kinda mileage,, seems fishy to me, just my .02

just for a change of pace, and yes it does get that kind of mileage, unless you get your foot in it hard, then it freakin flies.
I got sick of driving little tin can cars.
Yeah I hope for your sake too Holic it works out for you, because those things are really a PITA when they start going. Most people call them "disposable motors". And yeah, those cars do get great mileage. It's called gears...and like Holic said, keep your foot out. Look at a Corvette Z06, 505 HP, 7.0 Liter V8, and still 26MPG!!! The big IFFFFF you can keep your foot out of it ;)

nothing like low rpms..most cars do well cruising...now you guys with gas trucks...I'd rather die than be forced to pay the fuel. 11 on a z71 at 75? I wonder if you have to pay extra for the rape when you buy it.
cool car for a cheap price.
throw some big rims on it and act like a hoodrat.

11 at 75??? What year is that? I got a 2000 Z71 w/ 5.3, I get about 17 with slightly oversize tires. Might squeeze 18-19 with stockers.

that would be an 05 on 36s. if you squeezed out 18 i'd be surprised. the stock 2wd we took to see syko only got 15 at 70 on the interstate.
so what color is this caddy?
Haha ok I can understand that. I've got the equivealent of 33's, and on highway trips I routinely get 17.1-17.4, I figured with stock size tires, less weight and should be a little less aerodynamics bs I should be able to squeeze 18....which I think is what it's rated for anyways. Of course, my truck is a reg cab shortbed....so that helps out too.

This caddy is kind of like silverish. So I drove it to work the last couple days and it was getting 27.5 MPG on the computer thing, and its not flat, couple long hills along the way, so it balanced out there going up one way and down the other way. So far I like it but it probably needs the ride control replaced. I found a "passive" system from the aftermarket for $500 as opposed to the factory "active" system for $3000. There is a caddy forum that everyone raves about the system.

WOOT....I did squeeze out 18, and more. Last tank of fuel was 18.71 MPG! New spark plugs and wires make a hell of a difference haha....now I'm gonna set my goal for 19.5 when I downsize my tires.
