Hi all,
i am planning on doing my rear brakes tomorow and was wondering, from those of you that have done it, if you have any tips or shortcuts or might reccomend any special tools to do this??? I have been soaking everything i see in penetraiting oil for about a month now so it should come off. I have never done this so any advice is great! Also, does anyone out there have the spring for the rear brake pedal? i never realised i needed one until i put the pedal on and could never figure out why it sagged. Would my local honda dealer carry this?

Get a new oem cable from pedal to rear arm. The hand cable is also good for not letting brakes return properly. Grease cam , so remove seals to do this. Grease shoe pockets and spreader bar, and greade drum splines when reassembling. Hopefully the drum pulls off relatively easy. They like to sieze. And lastly, grease pivot point for pedal on peg. It also helps for a nice smooth return.

Don't use regular bearing grease on the brake components. Any auto parts store will have brake lubricant. Use that on anything that moves; pockets in the shoes, spreader bar, the pivot point...

Of course don't get any lubricant on the braking surfaces of the shoes or drums.

Jim,
I have one but it is on the brake pedal. I will sell you the whole assembly for $5.00 plus shipping. I can get it in flat rate box. I don't want to take it apart and sell just the spring.
