What is the most common trike you see in your area. When I was 10 y.o. I remember that all the trikes I saw were yamaha 200 and atc-125.

In all my life I only saw 2 racing trikes, one tri-z on a trailer and one 83-84 250R in the bed of a pick-up. I never saw a 350x, a Tecate, or a water-cooled 250r. I just saw those on pictures.

All we have in my area are big red, ytm-200, some atc-110 and 125, a couples of yt-125.
So what do you see the most?

I see the most Big Red 200ES. Lots of them around here. Yamada - you NEED to come to trikefest - you will see each and every model there - and lots of each and every model. It is almost mind numbing :)

I see mostly Big Reds around my area but there is atleast one 350x within 5 miles of me, and I just saw today a wierd looking trike thing looking like a 3 wheel mini trike close to a manco but you sit in it and not on it. I have seen a picture of one in the forums before. I know of at least 5 Big Reds in my area. Mostly quads here.

185s are most common. I've never seen a 250r, Tecate, Tri-Z or 350x in person. Just saw my first 200x a couple weekends ago. Mostly quads and dirt bikes around here.

A couple of years ago I hardly saw any trikes. After I got the 200x and the YTM225 from a co-worker I started noticing them more. I'd have to saw now that I'm looking for them, I see more 185s and 110s around here.

Dude, I know the weird trike you're talking about- I used to have one! I still have the fibergalss body, we tweaked the frame though. We called it "The Thing". Somebody once referred to it as "a motorized wheelbarrow", I thought that was pretty accurate. It had an 8 horse Briggs on it and actually went pretty good.

Lot's of big reds. Honda 350x's 250R's 200x's. Yammi 200's only saw one tri-z and never to this day saw a tecate in person.

I am old enough to remember when 3 wheelers were new. I saw Tri Z's and Tecates but 90% of what was out there was Honda, Honda, Honda Honda. One of the biggest reasons, i'm not much of a Honda fan. They were everywhere. Everyone had one and I just got sick of seeing them. Just like a pro sports team. How many people (outside of New England) hate the Pats because they are sick of seeing them? Same thing. I don't hate Honda, i just don't care for them. And i've owned plenty of them.

I have an opertunity to get a 200X for $175 right now with a bad tranny. Another 200X that is good for $375.
And I have an old friend that I could prolly pull a good 350X from for $500

For starters, i don't have the money for those and second, I told my cousin about them in hopes he'll grab one or two of them up. But I don't feel like I'm in some dire need to go get those and try to dig up the $$ for them.

In the 80's in my area it was the Honda 200's, Big Red and a few Yamaha's. Now if it's not a quad around here it's the Big Red's and lots of 185s and 200s's not much else.

I also own a "thing"! Called an Explorer 500 made in Owosso Michigan... Has a 6.5 Tecumseh on it and tops like 45MPH. On the 3 wheeler note mostly 110's, big red's. Though I've seen 250r's, a tecate, and 200x. Here's the Explorer:

At the moment ( including mine ) there are 6 liquid Rs , 3 air cooled Rs, 5 Tri-Zs, 3 2nd Gen T-3s, 7 1st gen t-3s, 4 big reds, a billion honda 70s, 2 110s, 1 125, 3 250SXs, 7 350Xs, 4 first gen 200Xs, 3 2nd gen 200Xs, and a Cagiva all within about 6 miles of me. And thats the ones I know about. :TrikesOwn

The only 3 wheelers in my area i have seen being ridden are 250SXs and once and a while a Big red. Its all quads and dirtbikes. But I think for the longest time the North East has had a high concentration of Hondas. I knew a lot of people with 250Rs and 350Xs. It wasnt until recently that I have seen the Jump in Tri-Zs and a few more Tecates are popping up...including mine.

over here the most common would probably be your average ATC200 (except 200X) big red 250s Ive seen afew yamahas but all the yamaha trikes ive seen people ride look quite rough. Ive seen afew 70s. Ive only ever seen one 250R which was on the back of a ute and this was before I got my 1st trike and i thought it was an old school CR250 converted to a trike. Theres 2 other people at my school that I know of who own trikes both of which are just atc200s I know afew people who used to own them but theyve changed to either 2 wheelers or quads. The other week in Pines beach(which is a beach just down the road from me) I saw a guy riding thru the streets on an ATC200

I have never seen a 200X, 350X, Tri-Z, or any kawasaki trike.

I do get alot of weird looks when they see me cruising around the river doing drifts etc. I get alot of people saying "theyre quite dangerous arent they" and when i was at the fuel station before i went on my last trail ride there was some random guy who was keen to ride it.

The most common dirt bike would have to be the XR200 theres also a heap of CRs and CRFs and some KX's where I ride.

The most common quad would have to be the LTZ400 theres also quite afew LTR450s and Raptors
Also recently theres been alot of quads popping up with big road bike engines in them and it looks like each one is custom made as i cant see any branding anywhere on them.

Like another poster said, i never knew there were so many around til i started looking, i bought a 125m and the next day i had two offers to buy two more!!!! But the most popular? Definitely Big Reds, and definitely Honda!

I have the only tri z i have ever seen around here. But I see alot of R's liquid and air, a bunch of 200x's, a couple of 350x's, and some older tecates (2 of which are for sale). We have alot of farm land so we have alot of work horses. Normaly the sport models come out to play when the lake freezes. Cant wait lol

I've only been riding 3 years, but I've never seen a true sport bike here in Iowa. Having said that, I've never been to the ATV parks, because they're so distant and you have to have registration. Once in a while I see a trike go by on a trailer, usually a 185s/200s or a Big Red, and I get so excited I pee in a little circle. But I think I've only seen one trike that was actually being ridden, and it was to far away to tell what it was. Trikes seem rare here!

Last week we went up to northern Minnesota, where they have ATV trails going everywhere. It was like heaven! But not one trike the whole time. One guy stopped us at the gas station asking about my SX and talking about his mint low mileage Big Red that he bought new in '85. I invited him to get that sucker out and ride with us, but he declined. Guess that's how he keeps it so mint.

There are trikes everywhere.. but most are rotting away outside with weeds up to the handlebars.

Yesterday I spent a few hours out riding and was thrilled to see 3 diffrent trikes. 85 tri z, an 84 big red,, and either a 225 or ytm200 (didnt stop to talk to that one)

other than that I've only seen a handful of them while out on the trails. mostly smaller cc hondas.

And I have an old friend that I could prolly pull a good 350X from for $500.

Hoosier Daddy, hook me up with your old friend. I'm in NE Indiana as well, Kendallville to be exact. Where are you at? I miss my 350X. I ran into a guy a few weeks ago that saw my trikes, and he said, "I sold my 350X a couple years ago for $100." I'm going to see if I can track down the guy he sold it to, and see if I can deal.

As for the original question, I rarely see trikes around here. I've seen a Tecate, 250R, 200X, YTM225, and a few Big Reds at the Honda dealer for service.

Here's a thought, It doesn't really matter what the most common trike is, in one particular area. It's great to see a very mixed bag of machines. The last ride I went on there were 27 different riders on trikes, quads and dirt bikes.. It's all about having a good time ripping up the trails, meeting cool people who have the same interests, and telling story's about your particular machine.. And the love of the sport, is what matters to me

Sorry if the thread is dead but here in central Minnesota it's mostly utilities(Red's,KLT's and 185's) and there's a lot of them.
Honda seems to rule but there's a lot of Kawasaki's and Yamaha's!
