It seems that after taking the bike off of a few jumps about 7 feet tall then landing on flat ground that the fork seals arent that great. they seem to be leaking a fair amount when heavily compressed, so it looks like fork rebuild will soon be under way.
any good places for good/cheap fork seals?
any tips on how to rebuild them?

well, i did the forks. first one was a pain in the ass, second one was cake.
used OEM rubbers, talk about fairly expensive, but hey, it handles 100% better now. its like its on tracks in the air.
so, what are the powerbands supposed to be like? i know nothing about the internals, but it has a Vforce reed cage and pro-circuit platinum pipe, and it has gobs of power right off idle. very smppth, wide powerband, AWESOME trail motor.
is this typical of the cr250's, or could there be other internal work done to give it such a nice powerband?

Well your instant power is thanks to mainly the power valve. The aftermarket pipes are also intended to smooth the powerband as well. The later 2-strokes I know if you read their reviews they were shootin for low end torque to the keep up with the new(TWICE THE SIZE) four strokes. My friends 84 has a wicked power-band and I've heard those mid 80's were some of the fastest in a straight line race, not sure if thats true or not. I don't think theres any other bike out there though that has quiet the powerband of a little 80, those things are pretty fun.

The Powervalves smooth out that abrupt power and make it usable power for hooking up like the strokers. The pipes are designed for giving you a choice where you want the power. Aftermarket pipes are smoother inside for flow and the length and fatness determine where the power gain is located. My first word of advice is jetting, if it is too lean or too rich and it runs good, but not crisp. Jetting is a huge key to pingers. Also, some of the power may not be making it to the ground. Make sure the sag is set right and that the clickers are set in the middle on both rebound and damping, then move the clickers from there to get it right for your weight and riding style. You will be surprised at the gain in speed and feeling the power more, just from hooking up.

well, i dont want to mess with the suspension dampening, it flies straight as a arrow and handles awesomely. it throws massive roost, and likes to burn holes into the ground.
