Couple things in this thread so I'll start with the easy one.
I have a 1985 350X and a 1985 250R. The both have a different type of chain adjusment than what I'm used to. What is the proper tool for this? The 250R hasn't ran in a few years and I think last time I did it I used the shock tool for my 450R which I no longer have. I have never tightend the chain on the 350X and it needs it.
Next thing is kind of an ebay rant, this is the majorly condensed version. I sold my 250R stator so I bought a new one on ebay. That is the last peice I need to start the bike. Well I got it yesterday and the plugs are cut off! This was not mentioned and the auction does show one plug, the others are hidden! When I asked the seller he said the dealer cut it off when testing it and it's not big deal just buy a new plug or use my old one. He said a new plug is $5. Well I dont have old plugs and the plug is not available anyway and I still wouldn't want wire repairs on the bike because it's super nice and I'd like to keep it that way. The seller also says all the 250R's have different plus anyway so they always have to be changed. I just filed the paypal claim. The picture shows a plug, I did not get a plug. Hopefully it's cut and dry since I cleary did not receive what was pictured and the seller admits it.
My next thought is maybe a new stator. Does Honda still make the stator? If so does anyone have the part number so I can check Service Honda or does anyone know the price or have a used one to sell me? I'm going to have to buy another before I get my money back since money will take awhile to get back and that's all I need to start it.

bikebandit.com has a new stator for $265.37

bikebandt part number 169704-001 . Thats the internal stator assembly... they are usually a few bucks under honda dealers and are GENUINE Honda parts... Ive had really good luck getting hard to get parts through them.

Ouch, I had no idea they would cost that much. I think I'll stick with a used one. I just checked bike bandit with that part number and it came up as $291, I'd be better off buying a whole motor just to get that stator! lol.

I have found that I get most of my Honda parts from my local Honda dealer. I found that when you add shipping through the places like Service Honda, etc the total comes to about the same as through my Honda dealer. My Honda dealer does not charge me shipping.

I dunno if Ricky Stator makes a stator for the R, but they make 'em for Tecates. Mine is excellent with the OEM plug and everything. It was only like $125, new. You'd never know it was an aftermarket piece. You should look into that-

Good call, this one says it fits 1989 only (not sure whats different) but it also says if you need a different application to call.

Hmmm. I have not had that experience. Everytime I have ordered from Service Honda it's just a $10 shipping fee which usually cancels out the tax. Since I pay tax at the dealer and don't pay tax at service honda. But then you gotta figure the 20% off or whatever it is. No tax and 20% off is worth the $10 charge.
