Okay, i dont really know how to explain what i am thinking here, so.........
basically, when something (like air) is warm, the molecules are holding energy, and the molecules are basically vibrating/moving (as at Absolute zero, there is no molecular movement)
well, my theory is somewhere along the lines of "why cant things be cooled down at little or no energy cost"?
the idea being that to cool something, it simply removes energy from it. so why couldnt a device remove the energy, turn it into someting useful (like electricity) and, say, run a dehumidifier to remove the humidity on top of cooling it?
You are using massive amounts of energy to remove energy from the air to makeit colder when you use an air conditioner. Theoretically, this works, so some degree. might not produce enough energy to fart, but it would at least cool the air.

the concept is sound...however technology does not yet exist to directly exchange heat into another more easily used type of energy.
yes...geothermal power works...but everything typically involving heat energy also involves steam...and turbines, basically production on a massive scale.
the ability to turn a hot house into a cold one, and provide electricity in the process is not possible yet.... but unless I'm missing something really important, you're right.

Just so you know, cold isn't made with air conditioning. In plain form, everything IS cold.... We never have to make cold, air conditioning simply removes the heat.
I like your thoughts though :D

There is no such thing as cold, just an absence of heat............

thats what i am saying. removing the heat=removing the energy.
I think its backwards that it takes so much energy to run an A/C unit to remove the heat energy from the air. you are using energy to eliminate it.
all a theory now, i know that tech doesnt exist.....yet

yeah, and they should make cars and atv's that run on there own exhaust........sounds great on paper but it wont happen

No no no!! ......:D
It all begins with cold, cold is the default state. Yes, it is an absence of heat, but heat is introduced to cold...... We are always removing heat, not making cold.
Splitting hairs here  I can remember getting in an arguement with my refrigeration teacher about the same thinking and she drove me nuts explaining the theory of it all.
Just turn on your fricken AC will ya guys

Doesn't an internal combustion engine turn heat into another more easily used type of energy (Kinetic)? I know... I'm nitpicking. You meant ambient heat or heat from random objects.

The idea is an old one. There used to be stirling engine kits that let you build a fan that ran from the heat of your wood burning stove. The problem is that in almost all cases, the conversion of heat to useable energy is horribly inefficient. First one to crack that nut will be a brazillianaire.

lol..you are nitpicking, but I wasn't specific enough. we're talking extracting the energy from the heat that the air is retaining.
but if you really wanna start splitting hairs...what if we were to use atmospheric electricity. it's not impossible...just highly impossible right now.

i bet its all possible, but all the big companies are in a conspiracy to hide the truth. face it if you were makin billions off of something renewable (like energy), and some guy comes along with the plans for an energy source that is self renewing and practical he would be takin a swim with cement shoes.
damn, i gotta stop watchin x-files

Bark bark bark lack of heat no cold bark bark no cold exists, pass me a beer, you guys are drunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isnt the term "heat" relative? Like an ice cube (32 degrees give or take) in a sub-zero freezer is considered a heat source?
Ok I dont think that really adds anything here.

well heat exists...heat in it's simplest form is the speed at which the molecules of a substance is moving.
that goes all the way to 0 degrees kelvin...absolute zero no molecules moving.
the reason your hand burns when you pic up something hot, is because the molecules are moving so fast in whatever you are holding, the transfer of energy to the slow moving molecules in your hands happens so quickly has to be destructive.
