here's what i needed:
complete top end (pisotn and cyclinder)
battery
on/off switch setup
seat pan
seat cover
plugs
coil
cdi
rebuild pull start
few odds and ends.

my progress:
Well i have everything except 1. the seat cover. I can get tthat later.
here's what i have done.
used a 185s jug and had it bored and honed to 65.5mm (so its about a 207cc now)
web stage3 cam w/springs and redone rockers
ported head full 8 angle valve job (3 on vlave 5 on seat)
new cometic top end and seals.
new battery (have not installed it yet)
replaced part of the bad wiring

i have instaleld the complete top end and torqued everything down. I have it down to jsut needing to adjust the timming and chain tension when i do finally start it.
i am in the middle of rebuilding the pull start. (parts are soaking in carb cleaner)
i will finish the wiring, install the enectronics, attach the motor to the frame completely, and start installing the starter and battery and a few odds and ends.
last thing to install is the pull starter I have not decided if I want to rebuild it or just use it as a cover for now to keep the dust. I think I'll use it as a dust cover for now just to get the trike up and running as I still need a few parts for it such as the big E clip and big washer as well..

I even purchased a new neutral indicator peice so I knwo when the trike is in N for when i am trying to roll it around.

i have not gone through the carb yet, but i think it just needs a cleaning prior to use, so i'll do that too. The way I work (picky as hell) i haev about 2-3 weeks and it should be good to start getting it to run. (including bolting up the exhaust)

anyway wanted top keep you guys up to date.

on my 185 total restore, I have aquired a good seatpan and cleaned the rust off, coated it with repair and anti rust, primed and painted it. so it's good to go now. i have mos tof the parts i need except the bottom end is in peices. I don't knwo if I have time to tackle that since i work a lot. I may have to find a shop to help me with that part. I'm also considering a lufin(sp?) motor swap rather than spending the $200 on doing the rest of the rebuild on the 185. it would get an upgraded jug and piston (weisco 10.25:1) to make it a 200cc but past that, it'll be stock.

anyway, i gotta do some work.

I have just started to get at my 83 200e. It is going to be my winter project. I need only a few parts now that I know off. If you happen to run into a extra seat pan or complete seat, good muffler, headlight plastic, and a front fender I would appreaciate it if you could let me know. Here are a couple pics before I started. I have it almost stripped down.

That looks exactly like mine! CopyCat! :p :beer

n/p hey on the seat, you can use the big red 84/85 pan, it's plastic and it works awesome!! no more rust!! i got a 84 plastic seat pan and all i have to do is remvoe the old stables, wash it, and install the new parts.

i may be able to thelp you on some of that. i'm about to fix a 125m for a kid and he's giving me a 200s in trade. i think some of the parts will bolt on to your 200e and work fine. we'll talk more once i get them.

ok worked on the 200e some more and the seat pan for the 185s bardage setup.

185s: finished priming and painting seatpan, and once dry, added foam and seat cover. need to use epoxy to help secure vinal as old teeth are worn and don't hold well.

200e:
cleaned and repaired carb
installed carb and all cableing for in and the choke
removed the forn headlight assembly aling witht he guard.
dissambled, cleaned, painted and reassembled headlight and re-installed. that krylon fusion paint is awesome stuff!!!!!

started workign on finishing the wiring. I'm hacked off. the manual i got a clements sucks... it has NO IPB or Wiring diagrams so i can't see how it all is supposed to go back together. most of it is color to color, but there's 3 green plugs (starter setup, ignition switch, and headlight) and there's 2 solid yellows but only 1 plug for yellow and 2 for green. so it's a bit frusterating on what to do now.

anyone got a wiring diagram?
this week comming up, i will bolt the motor to the frame, i will install the pull starter casing (temp till i get the rest of the pul start parts), install the shifter lever, and neutral indicator and work on getting the cdi and coil mounted and installed.

I will see what I got in the morning. I have an OEM shop manual and I think there is one in there. You are talking about the wires that all go together in the headlight, right?

There is a wiring diagram on the main page, have you looked there?

Here are a couple pictures of the wiring diagram. They aren't the best. If you can't make them out PM me your US mailing address and I will sent you a copy from the manual.

OK pics!!!! sorry if quality is bad. it's my camera phone. finally got it setup to pull photos off.

How ya like them apples? ;)
i paid $125 for the 200e (missing all top end and some minor other stuff)
i put in like $500 and it's about to be a fully running rebuilt trike. yea it needs some cleaning on some of the parts and repainting but that's for another day, the first thing is to get her working again before i go re-tearing it down to cosmetics.

oh yea, like my new man that just came in the mail today? ;) YEA a REAL 200E Honda factory repair manual with the 2 other parts the tuneup manual and purpose manual. Shipped for $42.50!!! sweet deal!!, it's old and used, but everything is in perfect shape and it's a perfect match to my trike. I can't tell you how off those clements manuals are. it's really sad, them things i look at them not much better than the Chilton's (we all know Chilton's for foreign cars specially Honda cars is always incorrect and especially on torque specs)

You can see pics of my trike and it's pretty much done, just gotta start it. I also have a new seat-pan off a 84 that i will use to replace the rusted edged 82 one, and I'm going to buy a new seat cover for it. (don't we have a seat place here? just want factory looking seat nothing fantasy)

talk to the moshmans about your seat. Mrs. Tammy did mine and I'm in love.

though they may not be doing stock repros anymore...idk.

would this tiny bit of angle difference be enough to keep the trike from starting?
it's close to it, but the cam is slightly off. the crank is 100% TDC too.

woohoo!!!!!! Now that it is making a lotta noise, it's time to finish assembly and then to some full testing. once i'm happy with the testing (runnign it through the gears and such), I'll bring her back home, for the prettyup stage. i ALWAYS make sure it works *Edited**Edited* i start the pretty stage. too many times i ruined the prettiness due to rushig. so now i take my time and do it right.

pics!!!!

i'm about to go riding around the hood again! it's fins as hell! got i mssed triking...

there's a pic of my son wanting to go for another ride. hehe we stayed in first gear and drove down the street and back. was fun!!!!

the red coloring is stained coloring. i got the head from one of the guys on here that's from up north where there's red dirt. the dirt stained the head and even after hours of soaking in parts cleaner, and degreasers, it still won;t come off. :( oh well, I'll jsut think of it as it's wanting to be honda red too. ;)

th middle pic of my trike and my subi in the same photo, my 2 toys. STi and 200e trike. WEeeee!!!!!!!!

TY sir! when I do an motor, one of my bigest peeves is cleanliness. a clean motor runs better and lasts longer than a dirty one. :)

i rode a stocker 200s yesterday. i have to tell you the power and performance difference between the stocker motor and mine is clearly felt and then some. with my hot top end my 200e runs hard and strong!! it's got like 35min of total run time so far and not a single drop of smoke or oil b urned (had to use the 105 jet and larger needle/seat setup). heck i don't even have the muffler on it yet, just the pipe (came with a basson (sp?) exhaust so i'm just missing the back end at the muffler as i have not installed it yet due to wanting to clean the bike and repaint tons of stuff now that it runs).

anyway, if your wanting more from your trike and are willign to spend the extra $, this cnc valve job and minor porting is well worth it!!!!
I'm getting another head done for the bastage 185s trike i'm restoring. I'm not putting in a hot cam like my 200e, but it'll have a wesico piston, and cnc ported head /valve job. heck at $150 a head that's the best darn deal i ever seen!!!! they are working on getting a before and after flow numbering.
