my buddy just had his x motor rebuilt. the only way we can get it to run is by advamcing the hell out of the timing, like further than the plate lets it go. also the headpipe gets really hot, glowing hot. what could he have done wrong assembling it?

Check your timing marks on the cam and the flywheel. Make sure your lining up on the tdc mark not the timing mark on the flywheel. Make sure your pulsar rotor is freely advancing.

definately a timing issue. sounds like its way off. get a manual and check it before you wreck it.

ok i advanced the cam one tooth from where it's supposed to be, and shes runs damn good and doesn't get too hot. it does cut out in the higher r's like it has a honda civic rev limiter. i believe it's the carb causing that though. also the cam thats in it is one of those ebay high performance cam's. it seems like they put the timing dowl pin hole in the wrong spot. any more help would be appreciated

Did you set the timing plate back to the stock location or is it still fully advanced? that could cause it to miss on top end.

I also have one of those cams in mine. The dowel pin hole seemed to be alittle
too big for the pin and the rotor would move on the cam and fall out time. A larger diameter nail cut to the same size fixed it.
