Alright so i have a chance to get either a Bassani or Bills pipe for my 81 250r. I would like to know who has one/ has had experience with them, and how each one performs. Is one specifically for low end? Top end? Really need help on this. Thanks in advance. :beer

Here are the 2 pipes:
these should work.

Grab them both if you can and run the bassani. That bills is too nice and too rare to beat on.

Any reason why? how do they perform? thanks.

The reason why is because I had one on my 82R and the fitment was great and so was the quality. Bassani really knew what he was doing with his tuned pipes. As far as performance goes, well I'm not sure the difference it makes on a stock motor. On a motor with a carb from an 86R and some slight porting, the pipe was the final piece to the puzzle to make her rip.

Yeah i have a 34 mikuni (86R has a 34 also i believe?) Reeds, and the topend is off and im going to clean up the ports. Getting a Wiseco piston. Thanks for the help.

I'd go with the Bassani also..they were the shiz for atc's as far as pipes go.

I have both, But I like the Mugen ATC pipe the best on my 300r. BTW there are plenty of them around-NEW. And there pretty cheap too.

Yeah i'd get a Mugen if i had the money, but i got a Answer full exhaust for $10.50 on ebay a few weeks ago, but it turned out it was for a 83/84, so im just trading the guy for a different pipe setup.

Sudco had them a short while ago for like 50 bucks NEW. Where else are you gunna find a new pipe for that money. How much is the Bassani your looking at??

All the 50$ ones are GONE. Its sad, but true. Also if you get a mugen you need a DG silencer which can cost a pretty penny. Im trading the guy a pipe for the bassani. Otherwise he wanted 100$

Is it just a stock one? Looks like. And they also have the 83/84 carb boot on close out and thats just stock.

So what is up with the Mugen pipe? Are they available? I cant find anything on them.

Oh, the sudco one is the mugen pipe? I thought it looked stock. I have never seen an aftermarket 2 stroke pipe that utilizes the stock gaurds. Every see one for an 84?

I bought 2 Mugen pipes about a year ago from Sudco. 50 bucks each. One just ended on Ebay for 75. And yes you can use the stock guards. Nice fitting pipe.

The inlet side of the mugen pipe is bigger than stock so you will probably need the bushing that goes with it so you can run it on the stock flange.

Screw the bushing. Just buy a used cr flange off ebay cheap. Fits like a glove.

1upfront has a bassani on his 83 trail 250r and it kicks butt. He beat everyone he raced at TF08 except tecatz's t3. He even beat sandpuppi's 600x. I don't know about the Bills .

Send a pm to flotek a member here on 3ww he made special jigs to cut 300r and stock 81-84 heads and he can tell how much to cut without requiring racing fuel.
Heres a link to his website

When I got my 81r a few months back it had a Bassani pipe and a 36mm mikuni
on it. It was so fast it was scary. Low end sucked, but when it came on the pipe-hold on. I could never get it to run well right off idle,It had a bad bog or flat spot when you first gave it gas. I just think the 36mm was to big for it. I have now put
a stock pipe and carb back on, it runs smooth and starts easy with no flat spots but it is way,way slower.

Yah i know what you mean i had a 36 on mine too and there was a huge flatspot off idle. I put a 34 on it and its near perfect. And im not sure how much he wants for the bills.

Also, any pics of your R bob?
