View Full Version : repairing 125m for poor kid

I've been helping this poor kid i met by repairing and doing a top end rebuild on his 125m. here are some pics of the progress.
these are what i had to work with.
Just so you know, he lost his parents in a tragic accident, and lives with his granddad. He doesn't have any $, but this trike keeps him outta trouble. Poor little guy. His neighbor is forking over most of the $ for the parts, and I'm doing the labor. This truly is a story of a poor soul finding itself on a trike guys. he's a good kid and he just likes to ride it and have fun. It's always smoked like a train and never ran normal since he got it. he sued to use hose clamps to help keep the trike in the high gear as the gear box you see was shot when it got it. it'll be a whole new world for him to have a working trike. my goal is to get it running like new.
I'm re-ringing it (piston looks in decent shape, just rings are toast, so I'll use a bottle hone to clean the cylinder up), doing a basic valve job and new seals, replacing all the external seals i can reach, and repairing the broken sub trans assembly. it's getting a new seat (kid used to use a boat seat to rid it) and I'm going to fix the fenders too. when done, it should run like a top and be totally fun! he's already wanting to go riding when it's done and mine is too, so hey riding buddy!
anyway, here's the progress.

This is where I am at now. I left the "old" seals in to repaint so i woudl not have to fight with cleanign the seal areas after painting. i'll remove hte old seals when i go to install the new ones. this also lets me ensure i put the seals in not only the right sized, but als the correct way, as some seals face different directions.

Fair play to you mate, the best therapy that poor wee lad could have is a nice trike to ride - if you need some cash for parts and have paypal, drop me your e-mail and I'll happily donate some dollars

Props for taking the time to help this kid out, man. Along with the rest of you that said they will give parts or $. Lets hook the kid up. That would suck so much to loose both your parents @ any age let alone when your young.
I've got a bunch of extra 125 stuff, if you need something let me know. I could also PC it in a color that I all ready have for free.

if you want to donate to the cause, my paypal is spcmouse99@yahoo.com
here's my address incase you want to ship some parts. the tank is in ok shape. it looks like they used that internal tank coating to help seal the leaks it once had.

I totally appreciate all the help. if you have some larger parts, I don't mind trying to help with shipping charges. overall the trike is in ok shape for it's age. it jsut needs some tlc and some stuff. i've been buying parts no ebay and had to go to canada for a few 1-off stuff. let me finish up the gearbox repairs and subtrans reinstall and lets see what we find on the top end rebuild. the neibor guy si an old retired cop so he's trying to help out all he can $ wise, but I knwo the cost of parts is alreayd over what he expected, so it looks like i'll have to eat some of it but hey as long as the kid enjoys it, that's cool. I'm also working on getting him a pc as the current one he uses is very old and hardly does email. (he has issues trying to surfe the web due to the age of it and his dialup).
here's how i look at it. If the haves, help out the have nots, then everyone will be happy cause everyone will have something, even if it's just a little peice of the pie. :)

Wow what a cool deal you have going on here! I don't have much to offer as I'm in college and just trying to get by, but if you need any machined parts or whatever let me know. I can draw stuff up in cad and turn parts out on the mill, or lathe. So if you need any small parts that are hard to find post up.

put a box together of parts for me to paint and let mw know how much the shipping is and I will pay for it.

here's what I need for this kid. I have a top end kit and i ordereda new set of rings, but if i had my choice, i'd prefer to repalce the piston and have the jug properly bored/honed out to the new piston sizse (higher compression piston that is as he an run 91 oct for super unleased in his area) if someone has a good 125 piston that woudl be awesome!
next thing is head job. the head is going to need a definate valve job. i can tell by looking at the old plug and in the valve cover, it's been leaking and not sealing well for a while. not to mention the exhaust valve for sure needs to be cleaned and redone. if someoen has access to a head/valve machine for cheap, please let me know. I woudl like to get his head done right. if peopel are willing to help we can get this trike to run perfect for anotehr 20+ years if we do it right.
anyway, if you can help with these 2 things, let me know as well. and again thank you all who helped by paypaling me $ towards his build. it's more than you know appreciated!

Thank you vbery much for your help! it's greatly appreciated!!!!
seriously, you guys totally rock! this kid is going to get the best present he has ever had. He's excited aboptu gettinga normal running trike, but i'm going to hide the fact, it's getting redone as far as it is now with everyone's help! I promise I will take tons of photos (yea with my crappy phone as my normal camera died and I'm waiting for the price on this new one to come down to a more reasonable price) and will even snap some of the kid when he finally gets to see his trike for the first time after restore.
I'm going to do a small video of the trike so everyone can see all sides and see if you have anything to help him. I will put all his parts together so everyone can see what I'm working on.
Again i cannot thank all of you enough. you guys truely are the greatest! It's choking me up to knwo there are such good guys on here. Thanks.

You guys are awesome for helping out with this.... It's tough enough to grow up with 2 parents, or 2 parents seperated etc etc.
Anyhow, I have an 85 and under 125M motor, I'll check out the head for ya - last I knew it was near complete and your welcome to any part of it that will help. It's not worth nearly as much to me as it would be worth to help out someone else.......

thanks guys!
the kid just turned 17. i jsut found out this kid is amaizing from his neighbor. he's involved int he bronco and bull riding at his high school, and makes nearly straigth A's. With all his issues, he's still holding it together. What a trooper I tell ya!
I want to have him help me, but i'm not that close, I'm about 15 miles away. (Texas is big so 15 miles is down the road in my parts :P ) but this weekend he's going to come over and help do some of the work. I'm going to have him help me pull the parts off and tellhim they need seals and such, not telling him they are going to get painted. ;) He'll be happy when it's done. the final assembly will be done by me w/o him. I don't ant him to see the trike once we get the painted parts in so when it's done and tested for riding, and he sees it, he'll be totally in awe!
The neighbor guy's name is Sam. Sam's a good guy. He was so happy and so thankful to hear about people chipping it to help. He said the same thing i did. You guys are awesome!

the only thing I'm not doing is cracking the entire case open. does anyone see any reason that it should be opened? It doesn't leak from the center so i figured why touch it, and the trans shifts ok according to him.

UlsterATCFan, ThankYou very much That's totally awesome! Very much appreciated!!!!
Thanks to everyone again. I'm just in awe as to how mcuh everyone is helping and giving! this is totally rad!!!!! WOW!!!!!!
I have not wanted to post how much $ has been recieved because If he read this thread (the kid) he will see. So please don't be disappointed. After it's all said and done, I will post the finaly numbers, but i can tell you this, you guys truely are awesome!!! it's beyond my words to describe the feeling when I see everyone giving to help this poor kid.
He's comming over saturday to help. I'm going to have him help dissable the front area and get the forks off as well as the rear hub area. he won't know why excpet i'm going to tell him they are leaking and seals need repalcing, but that's it. ;) he won't know they asre going to get repainted.
my goal is to have this trike done and to in in 3-4 weeks. I think we can do it!!! i'm going to put the gear box stuff back together before the weekend so i can eusre it works correctly, before dissabmle again. i am a 1 at a time kinda guy. i've learned in the past that before you do 1 thing you finish the last task on a job like this so you knwo where you stand before you start the next one. So, I'm going to finish putting the gearbox back together (sub trans assembly)and ensure it's working correctly by test riding it. then i'll work on dissamble of the top end as mentioned and other parts.
I'll psot pics and such as i go.

thanks guys!
I am not sure ont he plastics, I do agree it woudl be totally awesome if we could get new, or at least in awesome shape.
i'll have to research to see how mcuh they costs. we have money, yes, but new plastics are a lotta $$ but if we can get then that would totally rad, that wpoudl completely finish off the trike! while the parts are off to get painted, I'm going to clean and paint a lot of the frame (cleaning rust and properly getting it up to spec).
too bad none of you live in the dallas area, it'd be cool if someone wanted to come over and hang out and help, but i know it's far from most of you.

well, bad news.. the piston and cyclinder are very scored. jsut a re-ring will not do, it's going to need a new piston and jug bore/hone job. GRRRRrrr this was NOT expected. Oh well.
Again, Thank you to everyone for all your assistance.
Here's where I'm at.
completely finished install of the sub trans case and sub trans assembly.
dissambled the forks and am working on the hubs to send to one of the guys here to paint.
man i'm hacked about the piston. i knew it was bad when i coudl by hand w/o any resistance turn the motor at the pull start catch on the fhywheel to align it up to tdc. ahh well, it happen. looks like it lost oil or was lot on oil and overheated too. so time to find a new jug and pioston, unless someone has one that is in good hsape they can donate. i have new rings so i can always do a cleanup hone and re-ring it. jsut needs to be in good shape.

Updates:
recieved on the repalcement parts. he was using a flip switch to control on and off. i got him a actual console withthe key for his trike. i also got his seat in (was using a boat seat for a seat cause he didn't have one) but i need to take it appart and blast it and treat it and then repaint the pan as the edges (like every other oen i have touched) are very rusted. I also got in a rear taile light assembly, but the lense has a price on the bottom missing. :( so i'll need a new lens.
one of the guys here is ordering a new lense so that's covered.
I'm going to fix the pan, wait,,, I'll send it to one of the guys here who is going to redo the tank, forks, and wheels and such. it's be easier if he treated it and painted it as i don't have a blaster. i just have a wire wheel :(
anyway, jsut wanted to pass along the progress being made.

its exactly how i got my major startin trikes if i didnt have my 86 250sx that my dad had and my 85 atc 70 in 1994 when my dad passed awya i probably woudl have lost it but have taken ridign as my therapy and i dont have many 125 parts but how are the tires and rims on it? ihave a 75 dollar gift certificate for a shop near galviston texas and dont ever plan on going down there anytime soon is this anywher enear you?
oscarmayer
10-02-2008, 11:05 PM
it's a ways away, but they may honor the gift on their online store.
tires are "ok" but are old and were rested to the rims, the rims are being blasted and repainted by one of the members.
if someone could get a new piston kit that's a .040 over or larger for this 125m, that would be the biggest help. looks like i can get a good head, but we are not sure of the piston and jug will work on the top end i'm getting.
soI need either a good piston/jug, or a piston kit.
oscarmayer
10-05-2008, 12:04 PM
ok i shipped the rst of the parts (seat pan and forks) off to sykolincoln
got a good head and some extra parts from one of our members. SWEET!
still need a good uses piston so I can start motor assembly.
i got him a rear lugage rack. he was asking about one and i saw one on ebay. he was going to try to make one work out of wood, but i thought it best to order the correct one online. wasn't cheap, but it'll give him something he wanted.
final things needed:
Good stocker piston or replacement kit (STD bore size will work now that I have a decent jug too)
Rear tail light lens
If someone has a good chain, please send it. His is old and rusty
New things recieved this week:
new front brake cable
goggles w/tearoffs (from board member. TY sir!!!!)
used 125m top end parts that are salvageable. (good head and jug) (from board member. TY sir!!)
working on the tank, hopefully get some color on it this week, got the parts in to blast and paint... my blaster is being a penis right now and its just blowing out huge amounts of blasting sand so I got to pic up some new tips.
enjoy
also can anyone get this kid some fresh 125 tank decals?

naw I try to leave plastics alone, even if done right and looking good one good tople or tree will still make the paint fly off. A common misconseption is that flex additive lets the paint flex... wrong... not for an extended period of time, just enought time to paint a flexable part to be installed to wear it dosnt flex all that often... case in point every car bumper out there now.
yea this should be a sweet trike when done!:p

depends, the paint on my plastic has been holding up amazingly well. its not like spraying it on a car, but it hasnt been flying off either. if you got cruddy plastics, and some paint, prep the plastic properly and spray em till you get new plastics.

well if you ride like I do, with little reguard to my own life along with others painted plastic dosnt hold up... :naughty: the only application where painted plastic would stand the test of time is if EDOGGY paints his plastic... it for sure will last forever, I dont think camera flash and dust will harm it any!

updates:
Merrit is an awesome place! they have helped me with those hard to find part more than any other place, even better than ebay!!!!
http://merrittmotorcyclesalvage.com
They have 3 84-85 125m motors and will be pulling the cyclinders and pistons till they find a good one to send me for this build for an awesome price!!!!! Highly recommended place to go for parts. They deal in lot sof used hard to find stuff and the guys are just the nicest to deal with!!!! If nothing else lets see if we can send them some buisness because a pale liek them desirves our support!
Got the good lens TY sir!!! things are comming along slowly right now. Basically not much this week just spending lots of time trying to find a cyclinder.
also, any extra parts left over, I'm going to offer for sale on ebay and donate the $ to this project. Since 125m cyclinders are extrememly hard to come buy let alone one in good shape, I figure the 2 i have should fetch about what? $30-40 total? and the old tank can get me what? $30-$45? that's more $ to help his build!!
-------------------------
110 cyclinder on 125m 84-85 is a no go. :( heres the specs,
110 = 52mm bore x 49.5mm stroke
125m = 55mm bore x 52.2mm stroke.
source = http://specificdesign.com/honda.htm (awesome sorce for up to 125m size specs.)

Good jug and piston are in the mail and may even be the package i got the slip to go get for. I'll know tonight when i go to pick the package up. (either manual or jug)
If it's the jug,I'll start assembly of the motor this weekend and start getting the rest of the trike back together and test run the motor to ensure it works perfectly.

Good stuff, keep the momentum going, we all can't wait to see the finished trike :w00t:
its exactly how i got my major startin trikes if i didnt have my 86 250sx that my dad had and my 85 atc 70 in 1994 when my dad passed awya i probably woudl have lost it but have taken ridign as my therapy and i dont have many 125 parts but how are the tires and rims on it? ihave a 75 dollar gift certificate for a shop near galviston texas and dont ever plan on going down there anytime soon is this anywher enear you?
If need be i am about 30 minutes from Galveston. I can pick up whatever and Deliver to Dallas. I will be going up there alot during the holidays. Just let me know.

thanks barry. yes finds were used up already buying tons of new stuffs, but the good thing, we have nearly everything needed!!!!!
he needs a helmet! I'm trying to find out his size.
---------------------
brakes, i have new cables from front and rear. the pads look "ok" but honestly could probebly use replacement on the fronts minimum, but then again, like i said they would still work for a while. If you have a spare set in goos shape, then yea send then, i can always use them for him.
i ordered all new cables (except thropttle as his was in perfect shape) sh he has a new choke, front and rear brake cables.
dudes! you shoudl see how the bottom end looks! (motor wise for now) it looks nearly new!!!! i repainted everythign as I replaced it, so it would look good and last!
I ordered him a REAL 125m rear lugage rack/grabbar setup. i twas not cheap. liek $75 shipped, but he wanted one so bad and after i finaly saw one for sale on ebay i was like eh, why not. So he's going to get a real factory honda rear rack. i need to get his rear fenders so i can ensure the trunk works correctly. I also happen to have access to some 84-85 110 rear fenders in great shape, so if his is trashed, i can use them. (i also have 2 good plastic seat bottoms from an 85 so if the metal pan is too bad to fix and paint, then i can just replace it with the plasitc one.
i plan on putting the motor together this weekend and even getting it started if all goes well. (just for a sec using the tank off my 185s i'm restoring)

I'm such a freakin delay fish!!!!!!
i am being way too anal about putting his top end together. i don;t knwo why, but I am. the piston and jug were in perfect shape when i got them from the good guys in canada. but nooo, i had to take it apart, glaze hone the jug, and work on installing new rings. then i made the mistake of looking veor the jug and saw it dirty, so guess what? now it's soaking in parts cleaner instead of being assembled. :/ I did finish cleaning the head and seating the vavles today per the manual. so now it's going to be time to assemble the head weee!!!!!
anywho, umm yea, it's going.... sorry so slowly, but i'm jsut being an anal sob. not sure why. my 200E i was somewhat anal but not like this. it's liek I'm trying to find excuses to claan the dam thing more. ARGH!!!! i coudl have assembled it then used the high pressure washer at the car wash to cleant he motor off (will have to anyway just to ensure the extra oils and such are washed off)

http://www.oscarmayer.net/atc/125m/assembly/trans.jpg
the good thing is on the 84-85 125m most of the botton end of the motor was painted black, so it's easy to match and make look new! :)
the entire will get a complete cleaning and degreasing when done so it will look as clean and new as possible.
oscarmayer
11-03-2008, 09:47 PM
I'm actually further along than this.
I have the CDI assembly installed. I painted the front brake cover RED to match the trike better, and will be also cleaning (removing rust) and painting the front hub red as well so it's all red and matching. I'm installing some new brake shoes on the front and will be ensuring the rears are in good shape, if not, I'll donate my new set from my 185s project (same rear shoes from 110-200s in 82-85). I will instlal the new set of brake cables and cleanign and lubing up everything so it works like new and perfectly.
At this point trike has about 2 weeks of work left (as long as i get painted parts in by the weekend) and I shoudl be able to deliver it the weekend before Thanksgiving holiday!!!!
oscarmayer
11-08-2008, 12:39 PM
I'm going to continue cleanign everythgin this weekend and trying to ouchup paint the surface rusted parts on the frame. not a lit and it;s only surface, so some sanding, rust neutrilizer and painting will make it look liek new. :)
I'll then start to reinstall new cables and get all the brakes and such working correctly (asside form the front due to the wheel being gone)
waitintg on painted parts to arrive. Thanks again man for all your help!!
im finishing up the forks today as we speak! the other parts are ready to be shipped (amost forget the tank! LOL) everything should leave monday.. I will put it on priority.

This kid is about the same age as me, and he has got a better trike, well is going to get. My 200m has got broken fenders that have been patched with metal, and brush painted gas tank. I'm not complaining, it runs very well, except for it being hard on plugs. It's good to see what you are doing for this kid. Dosen't this kid now have nothing to ride?
oscarmayer
11-23-2008, 07:34 PM
gear, yes he currently has been waiting for his trike to be returned. so that's correct he has nothing to ride. Sorry to hear you feel left out. The difference between you and this kid is he lost his parents about 3 years ago in a tragic accident, has no siblings, is living with his old grandfather (grandma passed away) and that's it. do you have any siblings? do you have family and parents? He doesn't. no one in the world to look to. no aunts, or uncles. nothing but himself.
-------------------------
update:
Well, things have progressed very nicely!!!! Great news!! VROOOOOOOoom!!! YUP! i started it today and let the rings seat, then ran out of gas :( . BUT! it runs great!!!! nice and smooth too!!!
After talking to some guys and doing some investigating, I decided to change the front out and installed a set of 200s front shocked forks! it looks great!!!! I'm using the entire 200s front so he will get larger front drums, and a better headlight.
The new tank got damaged during shipping and after some inspection looks to have a slight crack near one of the damage points, so cannot be used till it gets welded up and fixed. I used his old tank to get it going. I'll figure out later what to do about cosmetics. the 200S had a perfect shaped fender and splash-guard, so it looks really nice. I had to grind off the old stop, and weld on a new one but that went well. (piece of slag got my wrist OUCH!)
anyway, i have some pics I'll post up later, but it's nearly complete! he is getting new break cables as his were rusted and the fronts barley worked before. Now, they work awesome!!!! I'm working on his seat, the wiring, and i got him a rear rack too! not just a handle, but a real rack made for the 125m! I have cleaned it, primed and painted it. looks awesome too!!!!! Well, time to clean up. i spend 2 solid days working on this trike and it looks good now. i let him listen to it running today and he was excited! He's bringing the rear fenders over tomorrow so I can finish the seat and fender mountings up. I figure that no later than wed evening he can have it.

fabio, Defenitally plan on getting pics and even some video footage.
OK, Here are the pics I promised!
The 200s front made a BIG difference. These are "last-nights" pics. I did more work today but no pics of today's work. sorry. not really a ton of changes voer all. bolted on carb, exhuast, pull start and toyed with the electrical. i installed the new brake cables, and such.
I ran about 3 quorts of good oil through it to clean it, as i poured i pulled the pull start off and on some to let the clean oil cycle through. man the junk that came out. the shavings from the old cyclinder and piston were scatty!!!
anyway, it's in good shape. I didn't cycle through the gears as i didn't have the shifter installed yet, + w.o a seat, I don't feel comfortable trying to cycle the gears even off the ground just incase something happened.

here are some pics of it. i rode around the street for a coupel of times testing it out and stupid me forgot to repalce the front sprocket. it was so worn, that with the actually repaired motor and the pwoer it got returned 2 of the teeth broke off it partally. so it slips when trying to ride. so I need to get a new chain and new front sprocket for him. also 1 of his rear tires needs a tube, so I'll need a tube for him.
the fonal things needed. really finishign touches.
install battery box
intall front headlight
after pan dries from treatment from rust, paint and then recover seat man with foam and new cover
get rear connecting peice for seat (was mising the back peice that bolts to the bottom of the seat pan)
get new front sprocket and drive chain and install (use new gaskets again too)
the car in the background is my car. I LOVE my car!!!!!!

hehe it's a sweeet ride. the shocks I got for him work awesome! in perfect shape and are very easy to ride with. i did bump the curb nad the shocks took the blow and poped the tire gently to the grass no fuss. jsut how they should work!

seat didn;t come out how i wanted it. when i had the rears it tweaked the seat into place and it changes shape so there were some wrinkles when there were none before. :(

Hello,
I am Justin the kid that Oscar fixed the 125m for. He is my hero and so are yall. I was really happy to see my trike. I rode it all day today and wow I sure did miss it. If any of you guys would like to come down here and ride that would be great. There are lots of little trails down here. We could make a trip where we go to 360 or 820. It is hard for me to comprehend what yall have done for me. I know have a decsend computer so I will check in with you guys from time to time. I am so happy with my trike and I can't thank yall enough for what yall did. Yall have made my life and I will always remember you guys. We got a few things we need to figure out on it still but it runs good and smooth. I never want to lose contact with yall. I can't thank yall enough. It made me feel so good when I heard about this. I just found this thread when I was looking for a manual about the wiring diagram. My alternater is not putting power in to the lights. Will the lights work without the battery?
Thank yall so much,
Justin Aron

My daughters 84 125m lights would NOT work without the battery. They run only off the battery, whatever generator it has just charges the battery. Lights work with or without the motor running, as long as the key is on and the battery charged. Saying that the best way to check would be to jump it off that Scooby there and see if they come on!

I'm glad we could all help you Justin. The only thanks I need is you staying on three wheels. (Watch out for those funny 4-wheeled mutants) I was out on my ATC 110 today. Gotta love those little buggers!

Well I did some experimenting today and found out how to get it all fixed. But now my key has no power I just fixed it where the key switch doesnt matter. I think my key switch doesnt work I never had it on there when I first got it orginally but I thought if I put one on there it would be better. I got everything electric on it working. Starter, lights, and stuff but the netural light wont light anyone got any little fixes that could help me. I can't thank yall enough. and I think yall have turned me in to a big trike addicted I think if someone offered to get me a atv i would have to turn it down. I even road today when it was icing in texas. I know that amazing ice in texas? lol.:TrikesOwn

maybe try replacing the neutral light bulb? also check the wires and make sure there not broke

GJ man! glad you gut it fixed up!
the key itself should be working it's jsut a connection peice, one option is to take it off the trike and soke it in electric contact cleanign solution for a while. might fix it as the contacts inside may have rust.

I saw where he has been talking. Isnt there a big cover that goes over the back sprocket? like to keep water and dirt off the chain?
what are we talking about? the chain cover? you dont absolutly have to have one, the one I said I have is really chewed up but its solid, if you want it I will send it back but frankly I wouldnt really worry about it.
oscarmayer
12-15-2008, 09:42 PM
it was a dust cover and you only had 1/2 of it when the trike came in. we can search to find one, but as pointed out, it's not nessessary. your cover you have now is so old and tweaked up that even putting a good one one iwll not let it seal up correctly, you'd have to replace the inner (taking the rear end off to do it) and then dissemble the left side rear axle to get the outter side on part on.
it's up to you, but it's a pitta I tell ya.

I just want the cover that goes over the sprocket I had a really close call last night the bottom skid gaurd got bent into the sprocket. I would just like something to protect the sprocket it scared me real bad. I am going to try to post some pictures of where I ride. man I have had to do some rigging to it to get the battery to work but heck its really cool I got a speaker box on the back and alot of stuff. if anyone wants me to build them a box just give me the items and I will build it... of course in my garage because building it outside right now would be crazy. 24 degrees and dropping. maybe i will find out how to handle it on ice :) lol
oh so the inside is all doodood up? then this tweaked outside will only make matters worse, what about making something else work? like a skid plate? of some sort?
oscarmayer
12-15-2008, 11:18 PM
i got the battery box in. i need to clean and paint it. i'll have it done this weekend if you want to pick it up.

The inside is good... It was just a close call I got it fixed by pulling the aluminum back down if I put a skid gaurd on it I would like to put a little piece of steel so I wont worry about it bending into the sprocket but it would still guard it. Anyone know where to get well priced, low priced wheels the back left goes flat fast. I don't know where to find a tube. or even if I should put a tube in. field spurs and mesquite thorns arent good for tubes. but I can run slime in a tire.
you can run slime in a tube as well, tubes can be put on at most tire shops
oscarmayer
12-15-2008, 11:36 PM
tubes are cheap. Best tube prices i foudn so far. someone may have a cheaper one.
http://www.agrisupply.com/search.asp?ss=atv+tube
we can design a better lower skid plate for it. see when the nex ttime sam can bring ya over witht he trike and we can spend abotu 3 hours workign something up. I have a 125m and 2 185/200 guards. i know we can cut and weld and make soemthing work out good.
yea you may consider the slime probebly cause of where you ride. i don't ride around mesquete trees due to the thorn issues. you can get a new set of $300 tires and have them trashed in 15 min when riding around those trees.
justinaron
12-15-2008, 11:41 PM
Alright that sounds good. I don't go through the trees on purpose I just know that they are out there and they are hard to avoid. along with the catus. if i put a whole thing of slime in that tire would it fix it?

with slime you never know, it's hit and miss. plus its a mess when you go to put new tires on. if you know where it's leakin from i would just plug it, its a cheap and easy fix, plus it works quite well. i'm glad to see your enjoyin it man, i have found this trike community to be the best group of people around. just following this story has brought a tear to my eye, i just wish i would have been able to contribute. my hats off to all of you!:beer
p.s. i hope your listening to some good ole texas metal on those speakers, PANTERA!!!
