View Full Version : Honda 250 Big Red rear on a 96 300 FourTrax

A friend of mine has a 96 Honda 300FourTrax with a bad gears in the rear ,it's the pinion gear .My quistion is will a 250 B.R. rear gears fit .It looks the same as my Big Red rear .Are the insides the same and interchangeable .Does anyone know if their is a difference between the two .Any help would be great ,thanks svo58

i thought someone on here used the quad rear end on a big red and it made it longer?
he was from alaska i think......anyway measure it up good and see if it is the same.

I put a TRX250 swingarm and rear axle in my SX.
I keep hearing the diffs between the SX, BR and TRX can be swapped, but the gear ratio is faster in the SX. Honda took the TRX 250 and made it into a 300, it's hard to know if the rear end gears stayed the same or not through the years. Only way to know for certain is if you had them laying next to eachother.
