his top end is trashed. the head has a crack and the cam journals are gouged. the cyclinder must go a minium of .050 over to clean up, and well he would need a new piston. price on part sis going to exceed $120 alone before machining of the jug. if I'm going to have to put a new piston, does someone know of a high comp piston i can shove in it? why not give him a little more umphfff?

any way just wondering. man to redo the top is going to run abotu $190-$200 :(

(unless someone wants to donate a good top end for him. (good hea dand pisotn and jug) i have a set of stock rings, so i can always do a hone on the jug and clean it up for new rings.

anyway. thanks for the help.

no one had a head for sale. :( 125m parts for a 84-85 are hard to find. they not compatable with other motors and only fit those 2 years. go figure eh? :/ he had to pick one of the hardest trikes in honda history to work on. :(

My cousin is thinking bout buying an atc and i have been watching craigslist for him, and there are tons and tons of 200s and 200m for sale, running riding condition for $300-$500, would that be a better route? Or are you in too deep already? Im looking at one right now $300 runs, needs brakes, carb cleaned, and seat recovered, that can be done for $100.

actually it'll cost you a lot more than $100. every trike i ever have touched that "need work" needs work. and lots of it. the brake cables all have to be changed and so does the throttle usually too. take your time and get one that's in decent shape to start. you can find a good one for $500-$600 and won;t have to do much but tires and tuneup.

I never just slap a used part on anything. I always refresh it cause it;s better to be safe than sorry.

Good news is one of the guys here has some 125m parts he will donate so that's sweet! i can put new rings in (after cleanup hone with bottle hone), replace the valve guide seals and gaskets and help it run like a new motor.

I'll post pics tomarrow of the latest progress made.

A shop near me sells all 3 wheeler parts cheap, alot of them in stock, cables are like $6 a piece brake pads are about $20, carb kit for mine was $22. He's not gonna make it perfect, just tuneup and fix wat doesnt work. My logic is, if it runs good, shifts good, and barrings are good, HIT THE TRAILS! or hook it to the manure wagon lol.

I also noticed '84-'85 125m engine parts were hard to find when I was reparing the one I had. On the positive side when I did find the part(s) I was looking for on eBay, I was the only one bidding on them lol. Good luck with your search.

If that year is the lay down motor??, then I have a complete engine for that year/model. I know it got wet etc, but the head might be just fine and your welcome to it.

Is 85 the year you need parts from??

Let me look around, this was a joint purchase by a friend and me and then I told him to screw because of other reasons. I believe the motor is still there, under a tarp.

If it's there, I'll post it up and you can have whatever you need.....................

yup it's the vertical motor. looks just like a 110 motor except, bigger bore/stroke.

Sweetness!

VERTICAL?? Thats up and down,

I thought that 86 and up were vertical motors (yours, I guess) and 85 and under were horizontal or "lay down" motors..........
?
